Problem installing BC coilovers
Hi all
I'm trying to install the rear shock, which parts from oe suspension do you use? According to what i've read all you need is the top mount off it and use the BC washer and nut. Which i have done, but i have nothing securing the piston from the wheel well side? The oe part i took offs hole isn't big enough to accept the BC piston. And the bush thats similar to top one has nothing to secure it, when i install it just goes down the shaft. Should there be 2 BC washers per side? Any help greatly appreciated. Well i took the other washer from the other shock and installed and seems to be correct as no knocking or problems and drives fine. But it means i now have no washers for near side rear. Email to BC sent for some replacements.

pics taken from this thread http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=798739 I did this. I'm asking about the wheel well side, i looked at the oe washer that side but like the oe washer on the boot side the holes too small so cannot be used. On this pic from the same thread he has 2 washers on each rear shock at the top.... i only had one on each shock. Last edited by simmo1985; 10-24-2014 at 05:08 PM.. |

What i thinks happened is when the garage took the coilovers off the previous owners car, they kept one of the BC washers each side because i would guess the old OE washer was long gone. Hence why one is missing from each side.

Well they are all the same, so bottom or top whichever way you want to look at it i guess!
I have 2 washers total for both shocks instead of 4. So i used the 2 i had on one shock and it rides perfect. But now i have no washers left so cannot install the other side. lol. Luckily i was already dropped on coilovers so can still use the car until i can do that side aswell. |
