Recent trip to Montana and Idaho....hunting and fishing

WARNING - PICTURES OF A FEW DEAD ELK BELOW....DO NOT SCROLL DOWN IF YOU DONT WANT TO SEE THEM.

Ok now that that is out of the way. I went out to Idaho and Montana for most of this week with my bro and dad Elk hunting and to do some trout fishing. My brother is a professional fly fishing guide in Montana...so I knew we would get on some fish.

and for those of you that think this country is too crowded......just head West.

I would have LOVED to have my 335 out there, the roads were just begging to get ripped apart w the bmw....

All shots taken w my Nikon D80 and 18-200VR, only a few were taken w my Tamron 11-18 wide angle.

The scenic shots

Black and White

a several mile long fence. Taken at Banneck pass on the border of Idaho and Montana......15 miles from the nearest paved road. Very remote.

Hunting Shots

Scouting for Elk. My dad was rifle hunting, I was bow hunting. 1st day out was spent for him to find the elk and get a shot if possible. We got lucky. 2nd - 4th were planned for me, we got lucky again. 2 elk, 2 days.

Elk that were deemed too small for my dad.....crazy. You can see several of these bruisers were NOT happy to see us, snorting and stomping in warning.

Look at the size of this thing!!

Me and Dad

Brother John and Dad

A very nice 6x6 that I stalked for 3 hours roughly w my bow. Finally got a shot at 45 yards and placed it perfectly, only ran 70 yds after the shot and expired very quickly .

My 1st elk

All 3 of us...gives you an idea of the size of this animal......we used it as a couch.

Look at that entry wound!!! Rage 2 blade broadheads FTW

My elk hanging w/ my dad.......that thing is a good 10-12 feet long!

and now to give you all a true idea of the size of my dads........just wow.

Fishing

the fishing was a huge bonus this trip. It was meant to be a hunting trip, but we faired so well there that we had 2 whole days to concentrate on the trout fishing. All of these fish were caught on the fly.

Largest of the trip. Approx 6-8lbs on 4 lb test. Caught at the ranches pond.

Another bruiser

My brother w/ a nice one

18" rainbow I caught on the Yellowstone on a nymph.

17" brown that my dad caught on the Yellowstone

and a final 22" bruiser that my dad took on the Yellowstone.

Others

camp dog named Spiker. Don't let him fool you, he has already killed 3 deer this year on his own.

Hungarian Partride running from us on a trail

a 400 class monster mounted at the lodge

You know your in bumf*ck when you see this
