Verizon Fios

I'm getting fios installed tomorrow for Internet and phone. Is there anything I should ask for or know before they do the install?

For those with fios do you like? Is there an upgrade to the modem?

Yea, ask them how many converts from Comcast they have in the Boston area. Comcast blows. Let us know how the service is!

now i am using verizon dsl. i wouldn't let cumcast into my house and i will definitely let you know how the service is.

Fios is the best... hopefully they put all local cable companies (monopolies) out of business.

Not sure what else there is to ask... last summer they were giving away small LCD tv's to people who sign up (as well as random gift cards).

a friend of mine was having xbox live problems with FIOS...thats all i know

I switched from Comcast and couldn't be happier. Love the speed of downloads their wireless router/modem combo is free..can easily get 1.5mb/sec on torrents and probably higher on IRC. TV picture quality is good, but I don't know how they can say it's way better than Comcast. They both look the same to me. A lot more HD channels though.

i'm actually sticking with Dirctv for my tv needs. For my situation fios tv would cost ALOT more than dirctv.

Yup, got a free $200 Circuit City gift card!

FIOS has been awesome to me so far. Good customer service also.
Currently running at like 54mbps

I already had Verizon cell phone service and broadband, so when FIOS came out I said, "why not?"

Couldn't be any happier. Plus I get a pretty good discount on my bill for having all the FIOS services. (home phone, tv, and internet)
