The C7 drives like a damn dream. I've driven the C4, C5, and C6 and the C7 drives like none of them. My uncle had headers and tune put on his and it put down 462/472 on the dyno. Great car to drive the interior is pretty nice IMO.

I'd buy one over a 991S or F-Type V8S and yes, I've driven both of those as well.

With that said, the new C7 styling is growing on me. I just felt that Chevy as well as Dodge (or SRT) bit off some of Ferrari's styling for their front ends. While everybody knows every maker does this nowadays, the Corvette has too much American history to draw styling off an exotic like Ferrari IMO. But, to each their own. At the end of the day, you will be the one paying for and driving the car, so get whichever fits your needs.
I'd say the C7 design is more Corvette than anything else. The grill purposely mimics the 1950's C1, the scoops and vents are straight from the Corvette C6 race car. I get the LEDs in the lights may be similar to the current Ferrari, but as most cars are going with LED marker lights (a la Audi) I'd call that an industry trend and not a Ferrari-only design cue.

Funny in their COTY issue, Motor Trend as already started bashing the C7s design (too many cuts and creases and the tail is too high and not well hidden) and they did mention the greenhouse is a bit Ferrari-ish.

Heres a side by side somebody put together on one of the vette forums. Definitely has some similarities, but nonetheless the C7 is a beautiful car for a fraction of the price of the Ferrari. Can't wait to see if/when they come out with the Z06 model.

As sports/performance cars work towards more efficiency in body design it's only logical that their designs will become more similar. I can't imaging there are THAT many different ways to make efficient, aerodynamic car bodies, especially ones that are cost-effective to produce. Copying something (even to a small extent) that works extremely well isn't necessarily a bad thing. After all, we ARE getting a HUGE bargain with what the C7 provides.

I'll preface my comment by stating that I've always been a Corvette person, and came from a Corvette family.

My grandfather has owned hundreds of Vettes over his lifetime and has 3 now (1966 Vette, 1978 Vette Pace Car, and a 1991 ZR1). I have loved every Corvette he has owned, and almost every Vette I have been in. The interior may be lacking compared to the European cars of the era, but they are in a car that is meant to be driven and not a weekend/fairweathered car. My brother has owned probably 20 corvettes and he owns a 1990 ZR1 and a C5 Z06 at the moment. My mother owns a 1994 Vette and had a 1971 Vette since she was a senior in high school (sold it 2 years ago).

After all that I do not like the styling of the C7 one bit. Seen it in person and sat in it, the interior is far better than previous versions but I wouldn't buy one (maybe the z06 version if they change it a bit). The rear is just ugly to me where the exhaust comes out and the tail lights are from a Camaro.

I've grown to love the C6, and may with the C7 in a couple years. But honestly once they got rid of the flip up headlights, I stopped really paying attention to them.

CLIFFNOTES:

Family = Corvettes for days
older generations = loved
C7 = better interior, ugly exterior
Need more flip up headlights

I won't even bother with the whole 435i vs C7 argument because it's completely ridiculous.

I actually saw 2 black ones at our last Cars and Coffee. I thought the interior was a huge jump. Wheels aren't very impressive though, I think a nice set of aftermarket wheels would really set the car apart. Rear was OK. Maybe I need to see it in another color (seen a blue one too), but I wasn't drooling over the way they look. The one thing I will comment though: I've never seen such bad orange peel before on a car. Makes BMW paint looks like it's been wet sanded

I'd be interested in driving one though, just to see what they are like. That might end up being a mistake haha.

I saw a white one from a distance of about 50 yards as it passed through an intersection. It was brief, but my initial reaction was that it is very "fresh" and "current" looking. I'd like to get a good luck at that butt to see what I think.

I don't think so, but the Corvette had them for so long. I just remember when the C6 came out and thinking that it was such an iconic thing for the Corvette that they were getting rid of. I know it's old technology, and it was more of a joke. They won't be making a comeback any time soon lol

That's something I have to have...and believe me, if you want C7-levels of performance and a back seat, you gotta PAY (911 or GT-R).

The new M3 is going to get absolutely smoked by the C7 which sucks because the M3 is the only car I can find that fits my needs.

The M3 is not nearly as fast, but it does fill a requirement for many shoppers: It has a real back seat. The back seat in the 911 and GT-R are only good for putting a few groceries in.

So what happens when the ATS gets a proper "V" update and runs a V8 plus corresponding chassis and interior updates? The Genetic material is gathering...might be an interesting comparison in a couple years.

Here's what I'm looking forward to; the Z06 which is to be revealed in January at Detroit Auto Show.

First time I saw a 911's back seat, I thought..., why even put those there? lol

Anywho, for the price, C7 is a hell of a vehicle. The interior and exterior has grown leaps and bounds from its predecessors, not to mention the powerband of being almost equal to a Z06...., what more do you need? A 435i is not even comparable, its just a price inflated luxury car that is not even in the same realm, at that point you are either buying a fancy drive around ride or spending the same to get a raw beast of a coupe.

With that said, I want a C7. 'Nuff said.

I too am really looking forward to this. I suspect that area is going to be swamped hardcore with mullets and jean jackets, though.
