Protein Powder go bad?

Was digging through my pantry earlier and found some sealed protein powder that I forgot I had. I'm sure it's a few years old - is it still good?

Tried googling but found conflicting answers. One post said it's fine, the next said it's not.

Yes I know it doesn't cost a ton and I can easily go buy more. But hey, if this is still good....

A living food will go bad. Something that's dead has a long shelf life. Try leaving a steak in the pantry for a year and see what you find.

I'd toss it.

Expiration dates on supplements are typically bunk. I've known several weight lifters who go to supplement stores and buy their expired powder/supplements.

Ha, this is what I'd do. I know I've used older protein in the past that I found pushed back in the pantry and never had an issue.

Ok look OP, the onyl thing that's "gone bad" is the amount of protein contained in the substance. It will start to break down over time and not be as effective, but there is nothing wrong with it. Might as well use it since you have it.

dude toss it. dont mess around with expired goods

youd be surprised how long certain retailers hold protein boxes/containers for.

i always check to see if that particular one i buy is expired or not

it should be fine...but i'd buy a new one anyway.

it's just like powdered milk...which doesn't go bad for a longgg time. once in powdered form its basically resistant to decomposition.
