does 06 e90 330i come with factory alarm?

I just heard some bad news from somebody.
I just hope it isn't true. BMW doesn't even come with
an alarm from the factory? I don't want to be parking
my baby around the town without even an alarm... is it an option?
if it is, that is pure stupid. $42,000 and no alarm??

I know it'd be near impossible to "drive away" with this BMW
as the key is very unique, but I don't want anybody to open
the door somehow and steal whatever is inside..

Heh dude do a search, there's gotta be like 10+ threads on this

No factory alarm is included with any E90. It's an option you have to pay for.

What's even worse, it does not come with floor mats. I think all dealers throw them in for free at least. I was also surprised by the lack of alarm but knew about it before I bought. The dealer quoted me $400 plus labor for the alarm, I plan on getting it.

lol. this is just funny. all those standard equipments and no alarm with no
floor mats. very interesting. might as well as say, 42grand well spent.
I guess they assume $100 is nothing for the owners when they pay over
40,000 for a car.

Just make sure your overhead light compartment is slotted (cut-out) before you go to get it installed to enable the motion sensor. It will save you a lot of time and hassle. Other people were saying the same thing on the forum so I thought I was prepared, but when I went to get it installed at the dealer, they told me my overhead light compartment was unslotted. Apparently, I thought I had the right one but I didn't. Make sure the cut-outs are there, I think all of the E90s come unslotted (no cut-outs in the grooves).

My car was built in July and came with the slotted plastic around the lights. I also read somewhere that some came without the nets on the back of the front seats which mine also had. It might have been some of the earlier builds.

US e90s don't have factory alarms but my UK spec certainly does have one fitted as standard.

there is a world outside the USA you know

because theives are everywhere here, I don't know why its not standard.
but its rare for bmw/benz to get stolen, mostly japanese vehicles.

imo a factory alarm is not a very effective theft-deterrent device. professional car thieves use things like flatbeds and containers to steal cars. lojack..alarm..if they want your car, they're gonna get it anyway.

BMW adjust the standard specs according to the territory they are marketing to.

in the UK many of us park our cars out on the street so i think that's why it's standard.

In the USA, options rule (you guys love to pimp your rides) so that's why you get better sounds sytems etc as standard.

^ hahaha. yes we love to pimp the rides.
Given we do park our cars in our "garage", downtowns in united
states aren't the most safest places on earth. I park my car
outside often as I commute and go around places alot..

I am not saying alarm will save my BMW from professional theives,
but my assumption is that it'll at least provide first-line of defense
against amature theives. those theives are the "dirty" theives, who
steals accessaries in your car. most lame and annoying theives.

thats what kind of protection im looking for. Also, factory alarm can
provide better protection if its tweaked correctly. Add some components
to factory alarm, it can be as good as high-end alarm systems on the market.

I got my mats (carpet and weather) for free and I'm sure most of the people have gotten it free also

I was also suprised that the alarm isnt standard but like billgti said, if they want to steal your car, they really can

Here in the Netherland the alarm comes with the Executive or Dynamic Executive package. Most people take one of these packages.

Yea, I think you're right. You were one of the lucky ones.

To anyone that's debating getting the alarm, I would get it. The sound is so annoying that the noise itself will scare any potential thieves away.

How much does it to cost to install the alarm? I'm thinking about doing it during winter...

Dynamic Executive package
The "Dynamic Executive"? Does this package come with fluffier hair, bright white teeth, an impeccable suit and a resourceful, cunning wit?

You Europeans get some funny packages with your BMWs...
