For the sig folks, I am thinking about getting a p229 for my first "real" gun (I have a ruger 22 for target practice).. But need some help deciding on DA/SA vs DAK.. From what I understand DAK would be a safer set up for a CCW.

You answered it yourself. Love the sig, you wont be unhappy at all.

DAK CAN be safer for CCW. The DA trigger pull on the DA/SA is heavier than than the DA pull on the DAK. If you keep the DA/SA, in DA mode, which you should be doing anyway, I dont see a huge difference. Accidental follow up shots might be a little less likely, as the SA pull is pretty light. There's also only one trigger pull to master, which is the main advantage of the DAK trigger.

Personally I prefer DA/SA. But I cant carry in WI, so take that FWIW. If worse comes to worse, you can convert to DA/SA or DAK from DAK or DA/SA.

Either way, you will be happy with Sig. Best of the best IMO.

I have a beretta 92 Elite II combat 9MM its awsome and its very comfortable. Its easy to shoot. I must have put 1200 rounds through it so far and it has not jammed yet. Easy to take down and clean also. I can hit the same spot all day long at 50' . On the other hand, the Walther P99 is an awsome gun too. Also comfortable and easy to shoot but less accurate at 50' than the beretta. Its easy to take down as well. And out of the 400 Rounds I put through it, it has jammed 4 times with the same Remington 9MM ammo.

I've got the bug for a new gun, so I've sold off two of the ones just taking up space in the safe. Sadly, I'm only about 1/4 of the way to the gun I want.

Only $2,700.....

Another one I'd like:

Considerably cheaper at $2,335.

I've got to add a .45 ACP 1911 back into the collection. I've got an STI 2011 in 40S&W, which is awesome, but I've got a ton of 45 ACP ammo, and nothing to shoot it in!

Here is the STI. I love this gun (and it was "cheap" at $1,900.) 1911's rival BMWs for being expensive!

You should be OK. If it was a Glock 40, I'd be worried.....

I'm the only in this room professional enough to carry this Glock 40......

Glock

The answer is Glock.

Period.

Glock .40 (Glock 22,23 or 27)

That is all.

Nice, you should love it.

I've put maybe 150rds through it so far, not a single hiccup. I'm taking the woman shooting tomarrow. She's never shot a gun, so it should be interesting.. She never had any interest in coming with me, but when she saw the new Sig, she thought it was pretty and wants to try it. Hasn't even shot it yet, and now she picked out an Equinox as "her gun"

Make sure you clean it up really well, especially the mags. The "grease" Sig uses on them is awful, and they load it on there. I topped them off just to make sure they functioned properly and every round was covered in this nasty, sticky, orange goo.
