Geico Insurance is really as good as it markets..

So Saturday night I had some light damage to my front bumper and hood. All that is needed is a paint job on the hood and bumper. Work like this should be around $300.00

I put the claim in over the internet at 3PM on Sunday, a representative called me at 3:45PM. Set me up with the bodyshop to begin repairs for today Monday at 11:20AM, with my rent a car waiting. My deductable is only $50.00 on the comprehensive. Its very worth paying a little extra on the premium for a lower dectuctable.

Most people think its worth paying the $300, because of the hassles insurance companies put you through. Well if you think my expierreence is too long a wait, then I understand. Geico offers a service called Express Bodyshop. They use top quality paint and do a full inspection after the car is done while guanteering the work for as long as you own the car. Cars qualify for this express when light damage is caused by rocks, key marks, etc.

For all of you that did not know this fact: YOU CAN MAKE AS MANY COMPRENHENSIVE CLAIMS AS YOU WANT, WITHOUT YOUR PREMIUM RISING. ALSO TURN AROUND TIME IS QUICK, CONSIDERING I LIVE IN MIAMI, 3 DAYS IS QUICK.

I had friends tell my ill be without my car for weeks. Well thats not the case. Three days and im driving again.

Hope this useful information helps you. You guys are paying for insurance, its a service they owe you. Use it.

I have Gieco too...
Are you sure that comprehensive claims do not increase your premiums?

And I'm too lazy to read the small print on my policy but what would a hit and run or if someone keyed your car fall under, comprehensive or collision?

I would be surprised if it's not covered under collision coverage or uninsured motorist coverage rather than comprehensive.

I love Geico probably the best insurance I've ever had, and I have no plans on changing any time soon

I could be wrong, but I belive Hit and Run is covered under comp. Only if their is an accountable party involved, but they do not have insurance, does it become a uninsured motorist.

Someone hit my last car (G35 Coupe) last year and fled the scene. My insurance covered it, but I had to pay my collision deductible amount. If it was comprehensive it would have been different. They did not increase my premium.

Someone with Geico insurance hit my wife's car. She received a call from a Geico rep alm ost immediately after the accident who handled the repairs to her car at the dealership. No hassle, no cost, no problems. And we don't even have them. Highly recommended.

Geico sucks.

The local and largest automotive shop in my area tells me that Geico is the biggest pain the the arse to deal with.
They often refuse to "total" cars he said should "clearly" be totalled, and he often says they will fight him to use NON-OEM parts whenever they possibly can.
He said there is a reason they are often cheap, because they are cheap.

I'll take OEM parts on my car, not knock-offs made from China... thank you very much.

Oh, and I've tried to call Geico 3 different times many years ago to compare prices, not once were their prices cheaper than Progressive or Esurance, the two companies I've had over the past 7 years.

Interesting. I have no idea what parts were used to repair my wife's car, only that it was done at the dealer's body shop. We never asked. BTW, the car looks like new.

I agree I have geico and they are awesome. I've had to deal with State Farm as the other party's insurance that caused the accident and they are terrible, uncoordinated and slow. For ex I had pictures of my car taken on a Saturday and on Tuesday State Farm did not even know they had taken pictures of my car even though a State Farm photographer came by. This delayed a liability decision and extended the time of waiting to get my car fixed.

Wow, this thread just entered second grade.

There are some very important things to know before signing up with GEICO. The most important is that they use a rolling five year horizon when most other companies only use three. If you have a ticket or an accident that increased your rates, you'll have to live with increased premiums for two years longer with GEICO than their competitors.

I had GEICO for many years and liked them until I had an accident with the Lotus. My rates didn't increase despite the $35k claim, however when I hit a deer a few months later (a $3k claim), it put me into a "high risk" bucket due to the short time between the accidents. My premium nearly tripled.

Long story short, after three years I split from them to a company that only looks at three years and saved a few grand in the process. I now have State Farm for everything (umbrella, home, rental, car, and personal article).

Geico is widely known to be one of the WORST insurance companies to use-----you may be happy now, but you will definitely pay the price soon enough. I can't tell you how many bad stories i've heard about Geico in the past......it's also very hard to 'total' a car with Geico as they try to repair everything rather than pay out to get a new car. No thank you.

I use State Farm and they have been stellar. My family has been using them for 40+ years now. Never any major issues.

unless GEICO is offering this as an endorsement (i.e. you pay extra for that feature), any comprehensive loss WILL be taken into consideration by underwriting. your rates may or may not change.

someone keys your car = comprehensive loss (vandalism)
'hit and run' = collision loss, every single time. if you had this type of claim and your insurance company categorized it as a comprehensive loss, they either made a mistake or cut you a break.

This is true. My friend's F30 328i was hit and now he is fighting Geico because they want to use non-oem parts to repair it. I would never agree to that as it may be a safety issue besides long-term durability. There is a reason why good insurance costs more. I have Erie and never had such issues and I even inspected all parts to verify p/n when my previous car Acura TL was rear-ended.

When I was 17 I had Geico insurance. A taxi hit me in the back causing $2,700.00 in damages. Three days after putting in a claim Geico sent me a letter dropping my coverage. Basically saying go find another insurance carrier. Switched to Allstate and been with them for 27 years.

I thought Geico was for poor people. I have no direct experience with them but their prime advertising slots are in between bail bonds and online college commercials...not really an indicator of a premium carrier.
