Thinking of buying this E46... What you think?

So, I'm car shopping. I found this 2001 328ci and its not bad at all.

It has a manual transmission, its one out of three bmw 3 series in the country that have a manual so its a very rare find.

It has a fresh paint job done three months ago, at a value of 18,000. Its a professional job, and i inspected it closely, its top notch. the tires are new, it has less than 50k miles, the interior is pristine. all black leather with aluminium trim. It's also got the pro sound system, which is a big plus.

He is asking for 140,000 TTD, which is 22,000 US. I could probably get him down to 120,000 TTD which would be 19,000 US. Ive been looking around and most people want 160,000TT for anything decent. this guy is looking to sell this car as he is selling his other car also to buy a new one at the end of the year. He used to be an employee at BMW, and he has taken excellent care of it. He has barely driven it.

the only issues with the car are that it needs new brakes, a new AC switch (just a switch). It also has a new exhaust in it worth like 12,000TTD.

yeah

mind you, 95% of any bmw on the road here is a 1.6, 1.8 or 2.0 liter engine. A 328 here is unseen.

I would want to know why it has fresh paint.

Also, the exhaust system is the sucks.

I would try to search for a 330, but to each his own.

Throw on some clears, LED Tails, UUC TSE3 exhaust, KW V2s, 19s, B&M SSK, M-Tech II kit and perhaps an M3 steering wheel retrofit.

Also get a PPI inspection and have the subframe checked for cracks. The E46 99-01 were very susceptible to subframe damage. If it DOES have cracks I would run. BMW is actually going through a class action lawsuit right now in which they might retroactively go back and reimburse owners for subframe repair costs AND/OR repair it for free on those cars that still have the problem.

fresh paint cause the owner had it parked up in a lot for some months and it was looking shitty. i guess he didnt cover the car.

i dont know if im gonna go through with this now though..... im still debating.... its really a nice car. i was thinking some LED tail lights, projector headlights, cf interior trim, m3 guage face, m6 rep rims, racing pedals, and maybe a body kit would make it look sick.

Probably not the case over there, but here you can get later (later than 2001 E46, not E9X) model M3s for that much money
