Thus Criminals carry guns.
Or you live in a place where if you are carrying a gun, you are a criminal. I great up with if you carry a gun you are either a cop or a criminal. Out here everybody and their mother has a gun. I think it should be something you earn, not a god given right.

Guess what?

Criminals don't care about the laws my friend. They still can get their hands on guns and they don't care that they don't have a handgun license.

America has drug laws but does that stop you from lighting up?

The quote I wrote was the soundbite they gave on the news. So, I just read the video where he made those references and the understanding that comes from it is that he appears to be psychotic. But as a diagnosis, that would have to come from a professional after some interviewing and observation, I suppose.

Whos talking about them not being able to get guns? I'm saying that if you are walking on the street with a gun hanging out of your belt in New York you are a criminal. If you are in AZ you are just another person. Its a means of differentiation in a way. Either way, whats it really matter. I have little confidence in society and dont think most people should be wielding guns, or cars for that matter. I think there should be stricter regulations on both. To many morons. Criminal or not.

I'm unfamiliar with the Arizona handgun laws but I think they allow something along the lines of "Constitutional Carry." I'm not sure if an Arizona citizen still has to obtain a permit in order to carry a handgun.

I'm a big Second Amendment supporter. I strongly believe that an individual should be able to carry a weapon in order to protect themselves, friends, and loved ones in the event that the need arises. I also think that carrying a weapon also comes with great responsibility.

In Indiana, for instance, I had to submit an application for a license to carry a handgun to the Indiana State Police Dept. (which took 8-12 weeks). I was fingerprinted, they ran a background check, and I had an interview with my local Police Chief. Indiana allows for both concealed and "open" carry.

I just know that personally, I feel MUCH safer with responsible, upstanding, and armed citizens walking around than without them, leaving the criminals to have their way. The police can't be everywhere.

My .02 cents.

Fiat Currency is any money or currency declared by a government to be legal tender and has no real value other than the value given to it by the government.

This is the opposite of commodity currency which is what anything with real value such as oil or gold would be.

The 9-year-old was identified as Christina Taylor Greene. CNN affiliate KVOA said family members described her as "excited" about the political process, and that the desire to learn more about it had motivated her to go to the Gifford event for constituents.
Christina was born on September 11, 2001 the affiliate reported.

Marijuana use associated with schizophrenia?

The shooter was a dope smoker. Here are a few quick notes from what others have written:
In an interview with The Associated Press, Wiens also said Loughner used to speak critically about religion. He also talked about how he liked to smoke pot....

In October 2007, Loughner was cited in Pima County for possession of drug paraphernalia, which was dismissed after he completed a diversion program, according to online records.

Schizophrenics are twice as likely to smoke marijuana as non-schizophrenics.

People who smoke marijuana are twice as likely to develop schizophrenia as those who do not smoke.

Also, apparently several people returned fire at the shooter, they don't know details. This is an incredibly gun-friendly state, and Gifford's was a strong advocate of 2nd ammendment and was a long-time gun owner.
So......any idea if the actual assailant is responsible for all of the victims, or could the other, well meaning folks, have contributed to the high number of dead and wounded by firing indiscriminantly?

Full disclosure: I am a gun owner.

She was the grand-daughter of former Phillies manager Dallas Green. Her father worked for the Dodgers.

No, it doesn't. But if it can be shown that there is a correlation between schizophenia and pot smoking, it is something that shouldn't be entirely ignored. Kind of like if you have an erection lasting for longer than 4 hours you should call your doctor. It doesn't mean you are going to go out and rape someone. Though someone who commits rape does it on Viagra, it doesn't mean the Viagra caused them to rape because they couldn't get rid of an erection.

Marijuana is more dangerous than many users acknowledge and less dangerous than portrayed by others.

I need to see if I can find the old movie "Reefer Madness". That could balance out my collection of Cheech & Chong movies.

Honestly who cares, punishment by death is still a great punishment. A bullet in his head is much cheaper and efficient on our resources. He has given up his right to life.

This is well said. There is a suspected relationship between schizophrenia and marijuana use, but it is still being examined fully. Not sure if it has been shown to be causal yet, but it's certainly something to take into consideration.
