Very nice! I love the wrought iron and hardwood stairs! Glass backsplash is cool too!

Here's a couple of pics I took of our new kitchen.

I do not have an answer for that, my builder would know, I will ask him and get back with you.

A lot of very nice houses in here. Gives me the itch to start prospecting a place to settle into and out of the apartment.

Nice work everyone, I enjoy seeing everyone's different routes.

A bit of a gloomy day, but whatever. I'm having second thoughts about my brick selection, but maybe I'll change my mind when I see the finished product. The locked the door so I can't go inside anymore but looks like they just finished sanding the walls. My house is small compared to others in this thread but it's just for me.

Lived here for a while. 3 beds, 2.5 baths, 2800 square feet. Pre-war architecture, built in 1927. All the original moldings. Full service garage, views of the lake to the east and Wrigley Field to the west.
Here's the dining room, kitchen, living room, and the east view.

All the walls are white, it's just the lighting and the stupid iPhone filter I thought would be cool.

Start with furniture and decor catalogs and magazines. Take a look at Elle Decor, then go to a Design Within Reach retail location if one is nearby. If not, go online to their website, and also check out CB2 and Room & Board. Design Within Reach gets pricey, but CB2 and Room & Board offer similar styles for much lower prices. These give you an idea of how certain pieces of furniture fit within a space and offer you solutions towards creating a more dynamic space that suits your lifestyle. Once you've studied, consider what you own, what you want to throw out, what you want to buy, the kind of art you like to collect, and what you don't like about where you currently live. Don't make your house look like a catalog, but if you can manage to produce some of the visual flair that these furniture designers create (and spend millions of dollars on), you're onto something. You don't need an interior designer, just an open mind and a budget (and good contractors). Also, designing a home should not happen all at once. Taking your time decorating a home eventually results in a space all your own, indicative of your taste as it evolved over the years (this also helps you spread out your purchases). When you're looking to buy a couch, for example, you have to really consider: Do I want to see this everyday? Will I like this in 10 years?

A bit, I traveled there for business maybe... 3 times since 1998. So not extremely familiar. I spent time on the Gold Coast and the view from your place looks very familiar.

Much of the Lakeview/Lincoln Park/Gold Coast lake views are very similar. I'm just a few minutes north on Lake Shore Drive from the Gold Coast.
