So...what do you think the national average on gasoline will hit this summer per gallon:

I just think based on the barrel setting a one day record high yesterday along with the stock market decline it was significant...

it'll drop only if the dollar gets some strength back, or the euro becomes the pricing standard for a barrel of oil, and not the dollar.

Hopefully what gets hit is the oil companies in the head with bricks for price gouging the heck out of us.
I love all the excuses they use to raise prices now (the supply one is great (what gas stations in this country are out of gas or can't get any??)
The weakening dollar is funny too (you guys have less money to spend, so lets charge you more for what you need.)
And most recently the rise in unemployment rate (American has .5% more people unemployed, that means less people are driving and less gas/oil is being used.....OK then, let's up the price of oil/gas to compensate then, so we can continue making our tens of billions of dollars each month! Wow.

What next, "you guys are getting a new President soon, that means gas needs to go up .20 a gallon. Oh, and we have a drought going on in parts of the country, that has got to shake things up a bit, better raise oil/gas prices.

Maybe we should charge HUGE tariffs to these Middle Eastern countries for any goods they import.

In January 2002 the average price of a gallon of gas in California was $1.22 a gallon.
That means it was probably $1.18 or so nationwide.

In the late 80's it was around .95 cents per gallon.
So in 15 years it went up about .20 cents or so.

Now, it went up .20 cents in the prior 5 days!!!!
Unbelievable. And the current politicians are too chickenshit to try and do anything about it.

Can't wait for it to get to 6,7,8 bucks a gallon..........if nothing it'll at least get rid of some of that insane traffic in LA county.......

FYI: Filled up at $4.70 a gallon in Pasadena last nite.

if gas prices keep going up like that, we gonna see alot of chryslers on the road! lol

they have been airing the shit out of the new commercial advertising $2.99/gal gas for the next 3 years/45K miles with a purchase of one of their vehicles. Basically they give you a gas card, which is linked to your account somehow. Whatever you charge in gas, you only pay $2.99/gal and they take care of the rest.

I am no expert but all newspaper and elite economist agree that the current gas prices are artificial. Yes there is more demand because of emerging markets, namely India and China but the price of petrol should be around $60/barrel. There are two main reason of high gas prices, 1) US dollar falling which can directly result of current economies policies driven by our president. Lets drop the dollar to cut the import/export deficit so we can look like hero. How about actually exporting something that other people want.

2) Speculation trading at the stock market. Oil is being traded as a commodity which makes it sensitive to global situation. Guess whats going on currently a huge war (Iraq) and with on-going threats about a war with Iran (which is another oil producing nation) we are only driving up the gas prices. This administration need to thinks before makes childish statement since they are destroying millions of people's lively hood with words.

its definitely going to hit $5 by the 4th of july...
at current oil prices gas should actually be at $5.50 right now, but gas prices always lag oil prices.
I wouldnt be surprised if we saw $6 sometime during the summer.
