SRT Charger Hellcat - Wow!!!

What a beast, looks great. I guess this was only a matter of time after the Challanger.

The Charger -- grandly billed by Dodge as the world's only four-door muscle car -- is about to get its own supercharged SRT Hellcat model. The Charger will get the same new high-tech, 707 horsepower, 6.2-liter Hemi V-8 that will power the previously announced Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat.

And full-size family sedan, due in the first quarter of 2015, even is a hair faster than the its sportier coupe brother. Dodge says that the Charger scored a National Hot Rod Association-certified quarter-mile time of 11.0 seconds with its Pirelli P Zero street tires.

Would have been better if they said, "it helps with the traction."

But damn, things looks great. I haven't considering buying an American car in many years but one of these Hellcats could change my mind.

That car needs more rubber all around, or at least on the rear! If I ever line up next to one of these at a light I'm going to casually make a right turn, as if I planned to go that way...

Wonder what weight savings, more tire, and a more intelligent rear diff would do for these dodges. Nothing absorbs fun like weight. I'm not saying a 700+hp car needs to be under 3000lbs, but going on 5000 is just excessively heavy.

I agree it looks better than current models, but it would have been nice if they hadn't been lazy and actually redesigned it since it's getting a totally new powertrain.

As someone who drove a 2009 Cadillac CTS with just 306hp and roughly the same weight, I'll say that a 707hp Charger will be plenty of fun. No, it's not a track car. It's a quarter-mile tire shredder which will bring smiles to many mens faces ok their home from work.

I had a 6.4 SuperBee and they come stock with LSDs. Even with crappy 245 size Goodyear F1, I managed a 1.799 60' at the strip. They're muscle cars and they're a lot of fun. I'm getting one of these. Might be the end of an era of big gas guzzling muscle.

The car is awesome and sounds mean as hell. I really like it. Too bad it'll be out of my price range.

Agreed. But in case you are wondering why they went 275's all around....

1) 707 HP will shred tires. A square setup will allow the fronts and rears to be swapped, extending the life of the rubber.
2) Prevent understear (I cannot imagine there would be much, but with the beefy weight and chassis it was a little problematic on previous iterations)

They could have gone 305s all around or 295s all around. 275 sized tires are WAY too small for a car of its weight and power.

But they should have just went 275s up front and 305 out the back. I'm just wondering what GM will do with the ZL1 and Ford with the GT500 (even though the GT500 is getting a bump in power).

M5 owners beware, new highway king! But the rear tires are far too small..Maybe that's how they plan on keeping price down?

Sure, the sound out of the exhaust sounds great, but, hey Dodge! What about the simulated V8 sounds from the speakers??
