Bosch Spark Plug - ZR5TPP33S Need to be gapped for N55?
Looking to do some maintenance on my 335i N55 just wondering if these plugs will need to be gapped?
Thanks in advance Dan Last edited by Dan Villa; 10-21-2014 at 10:34 PM.. |

Nope - they are pre-gapped.

On bosch's web site they say not to gap the plugs... at least with this part #. I just found that information tonight. Maybe go with different plugs if tuned? How will changing the gap affect the motor if going back and forth from tuned and a stock tune?

I read somewhere if tuned to not gap as the gap will widen over time.
I am completely ignorant of this so don't take my word as gospel but I say it in hopes that someone in the know can chime in and correct or confirm this. |

With a tune you will want a smaller gap, not larger. Smaller gap = a more powerful spark that still works well under high boost. If you run a larger gap you can get misfires in high boost situations.

#So are saying we should make the gap smaller than it comes when we purchase it? #Or do the gaps vary in size when purchasing depending on manufacturer? |

That said I am CPO and have been running 18+psi on stock plugs with no problems. If I was changing them myself I would tighten the gap slightly. |

I'm in a similar boat, ready to do plugs at 35K miles and I like Bosch platinum plugs but are these ZR5TPP33S the best plugs to go with or are the ZGR6STE2 I've seen posted here a better choice? I'm almost stock, just a Cobb AP3 (aggressive, 93 octane) and a high-flow panel filter. Runs great!
