I never really got the Wagon appeal. Seems like a ton of people have boners for wagons, but I never really felt the same. That said, it's still a good looking car and would be a hoot to drive.

I'd rather have an Audi RS7 if I wanted a huge trunk, but the E63S is a definite beast in sedan form.

That's definitely a fast car as well ... that said I have a place in my heart for a good old fashioned "estate" sport wagon. It's the original SUV.

I had an original Audi Allroad and it was awesome. The amount of stuff I could fit into that thing was incredible and it was still pretty fast.

If I needed a wagon this would be the one for me, but I don't envision ever being in that position.

If you're a track rat obviously the wagon isn't the ideal choice, but if you have a sporty life (kayaks, bikes, snowboards, skis, etc) or kids with lots of gear and you want to have one car to do that stuff but also a little auto-x / track work a few times a year it seems like a great vehicle.

But they're practical and still retain performance, that's the beauty of it. Some of us have pets, things to haul ect... Not to mention I think they look awesome. in some cases, I think they look better than the sedan (F11 vs F10, pretty much all Audis)

If they made an F81, that would hands down be my choice for my next car. I'd sell everything I have an consider having that as my only car (currently have 3).

Yup that's the way I feel. To me a 4-sedan makes no sense if a wagon is available. Same with 2-door vs hatchback, no reason to buy the coupe other than because you want to look cool, which is why wagons are actually cool

Bingo. And if the wagon happens to look cool, handles well, sound good and fast. What else would you want? I mean, literally, what other car would you need?

Thus why F81 would be PERFECT.

I'm not arguing the practicality aspect of them. Heck, I drive a Volt and love that I can fit 8' 2x8s in it if needed. Just for me, the aesthetics of the wagon don't really appeal to me compared to a sedan or coupe. But I acknowledge its a subjective opinion and there really isn't a right or wrong here.

Wagons usually weigh a few extra pounds and have it up high, but also tend to have more weight over the rear wheels too. I'm in the F81 camp too, I'd sell the DD and the toy to have one car that can do it all.

it's rare, but I spotted one the other day too, in brown no less

it's the only one I've seen so far in AMG trim, and I've maybe seen 2 or 3 non-AMG E wagons

They may not look as cool but they serve a great purpose. If you regularly transport a lot of people and a lot of cargo (family man for example) and you want a high performance vehicle to suit all of your needs, then those high performance wagons are an excellent choice. The CTS-V and E63 wagons are amazing. And additionally they tend to be not so heavy and don't have a very high center of gravity, so the handling is pretty good too. Those wagons are really a lot better than those bullshit popular "high performance" SUV like X5/X6 M, Cayenne, ML 63, Jeep SRT 8, etc...

There's this:

Quote:
Before I get started here, I want to say that I love when car enthusiasts approach me at the gas pump. When I had my E63 AMG wagon, this is all that ever happened: I'd be sitting there, filling the car with gas, and a guy would walk up and start talking about his V70R... Normal people would never approach me when I had my AMG wagon, because they thought I had just borrowed my mom's car
