That's exactly what my bro said.

I tried going up against a 1.8T golf last month...friend of a friend...was supposedly stock.

I found out the hard way .

APR bolt on turbo kit with the 4 or 5 stages of tuning built into the computer, accessible by just toggling the cruise control button.

Each time he upped it, and he left me harder than before .

My car was all stock at the time, and its an E90. And I had a 200lb passenger. My friend found out two days later he dynoed 361 to the ground, and had the dyno sheet to prove it

The only other car I couldnt get away from was an 04 SVT Cobra, with the basics...a 9psi pulley (over stock), full exhaust and an intake and some fuel mods (all that there is like 100hp gain, making it something like 500hp)...he was running me down like he was going to rear end me

Other than that....everyone else has fallen...

Experience #1

First, late last week, I had a little spirited driving fun with a Audi TT. Although he couldn't keep up for our 20 min. or so of "spirited driving" (I past him several times like he was standing still), I still thought it broke the monotony of highway driving and it was kind of fun. When we both got off the highway (passing though a small town) and got to a red light, I let him pull up next to me and I asked him if his TT was the 250HP version. He said no; it was the base 200HP version. I felt bad that I picked on him, so I said ..."not too bad" for such a car. [QUOTE]

Ah...there are two TTs..one with 180 bhp..and the other with 225 bhp. If it had one exhaust pipe going out the back...it was the 180 bhp version.

I'm sure most people dont lie about this topic because theres no way for them to prove it. They are mostly misimformed. They add up a few numbers and they think they have really fast cars. I have only been to a track once in my life. Until you see a 9 second car take off, you will have no clue how fast it is. Fastest I seen at the track was a 7 second car, and the exhaust on that thing gave me goosebumps. A friend of mine sed he had a 4 second Evo, I sed Only in ur dreams. lolz 4 seconds

Probably meant 4 seconds 0 to 60 which is very possible in a modded EVO, but then he is probably just going off of what some person said his car would do and never tested it. Lots of people act like they know a good bit about racing or cars, but most of them have never put a car on a track or pushed their cars anywhere close to the limit.

When we both got off the highway (passing though a small town) and got to a red light, I let him pull up next to me and I asked him if his TT was the 250HP version. He said no; it was the base 200HP version. I felt bad that I picked on him, so I said ..."not too bad" for such a car.

I then told him about my car...stock with the FI tt and of course what I've added, and approx. HP/TQ. I pointed to my Vector FX2 timer and said that it can do 0-60mph in 4.50 sec. and the 1/4 mi. in ~ 12.6-13.0 sec. So, he said that his car was slow in the 1/4 mi. due to the AWD, but that it does 0-60mph in 4.1 sec.!!!!! I almost peed in my pants I was laughing so hard.

I called and said.."no way; that's almost as fast as a Chevy Corvette Z06 and Porsche 911 Turbo!!!" He insisted, so when the light turned green, my 4.50 sec. 0-60mph PROcede 335i walked his supposed 4.1 sec. 0-60mph Audi TT! I thought to myself...well, maybe 6.1 sec. 0-60mph but no way in hell 4.1 sec. 0-60mph.

Experience #2

So, today, I had some brief fun with a modded GTO 6.0 (I know he had at least an aftermarket exhaust, b/c it sounded way too mean and had even larger twin pipes). From a 10mph roll, I kept about 1 CL ahead of him; he couldn't pull on me and I shut it down at ~ 100mph. I gave him a thumbsup and a signal to talk at the light. We pulled up to the light and I asked him what kind of "crazy" exhaust he has on his GTO. He didn't say, but he did say he was VERY surprised that he couldn't catch up to me; he was very perplexed.

So, again, I told him about my car...stock with the FI tt and of course what I've added, and approx. HP/TQ. He said he's running about 425HP and that his car does the 1/4 mi. in ~ 9 sec.!!!! Yeah, ok...9 sec., faster than a modded Ferrari, faster than a modded Viper, faster than a modded 911 Turbo, faster than a modded M5...what else??? Since the light turned green, and I took a right (and he went straight), I didn't have a chance to call B.S. and correct him on his ridiculous statement.

What's up with all these ppl who either "think" they have really fast cars or the ones that actually do have fast cars, why aren't they realistic when it comes to 0-60mph and 1/4 mi. times? What's with all the B.S.?

Just thought I'd share the insanity!

TOO......MANY....EMOTICONS........

Yes, those were the older ones; the new ones have 200HP and 250HP respectively.

I could only imagine what people from a Z06 forum or Ferrari forum think about us. We think we're soooo fast. Yeah... compared to my Accord... my Proceded 335i is quick and a little scary at times. I test rode in a Z06 with a friend. THAT is fast. I can't imagine what a car with 600 HP feels like, let alone one that does a quarter mile in 7 secs. I'm just happy to be able to give my friends a little thrill.

Lets be honest until there is either a real turbo upgrade and supporting fuel mods or somebody decides to gut their car the 335i isn't unbelievably fast. Don't get me wrong it's pretty damn quick but, there are a lot of faster cars on the road.
I agree. But even just knowing that 335i with PROCede or XEDe is faster than I would say 90% of the cars on a road makes me happy about my car and I enjoy it a lot every time I get behind the wheel.

and you should. It just makes me laugh when people think their car is this unbelievable land rocket and go around trying to race everything under the sun and spouting off facts about their car to people. I get this type of stuff almost every time I drive my Evo. It's like they have something to prove.

Most people have probably never driven/ridden anything that is actually scary fast. Something like a Busa or a shifter kart will open your eyes as to what fast really is.

It's all relative though. It's fast compared to what they were used to driving. There is always something faster out there though. After driving the Evo for a while when I get back in the 335i I think "This thing needs more power" or course going the other way around I think "This thing needs heated seats, to be quieter, and a nicer interior" when I get back in the Evo.

People are morons. I stopped to talk to a guy with a Raptor last weekend (the awesome reverse-trike little things with 1400 cc Kawasaki motors in them). The guy said it does 0-60 in 3.6 seconds (I'll buy it) and 1/4 mile in 6 seconds. Ummm...yeah. ok.
