Amusing...

M sports is a package that includes the sports suspension plus several cosmetic upgrades to the car (bumpers, side sills, markings in the interior). The actual dampers and springs are actually the same as the "sports" suspension upgrade option, which isn't available on the 335is because it would be redundant.

The M sports comes standard on all 335is to get that "look", but is shown as an option on the build sheet because that's just how BMW does their build accounting.

What intake upgrades are most common among the is crowd? I was thinking of getting bms but if it doesn't help performance then I'll stick with stock.

k&n drop in filter is decent, most popular is the AFE stage 2

Any DCI is going to perform about the same.

There are two schools of thought about intakes on this platform - one that says if you eliminate the cold airflow routing from the nose of the car you are robbing horsepower, and the other that says short, unrestricted DCI's are best and under hood heat is irrelevant because the air is going to get heated up by adiabatic compression and then cooled by the intercooler anyway. I happen to fall in the second category and am running an AFE DCI with no issues or complaints. With the added silly benefit of more whooshy sounds

Either option is fine - make your own call and enjoy.

I did a before dyno and I"m going to do an after dyno and I'm going to try and do it on a day that has the exact, or close to the same, temp and humidity and obviously I'm using the same dyno. Someone else with an IS did dyno comparisons with the sealed intake and gained power over any DCI but I want to know if it is the same with my car. Also, I'm not sure if the weather was the same when he dyno'd.

I agree with you that the air will get heated up anyway, but I'm thinking when you start with colder air from the get go even if it does get heated up, it wouldn't be as hot as if it were pulling from the engine bay...

I guess we will see. I'd rather use a $100 intake setup than a $550 one, but if I can make the same power with less boost or more power, then game on!

The thing is, the amount of absolute heating from adiabatic compression is going to be much, much more significant than the different starting temperatures such that intercooling efficiency isn't going to be all that different between the two scenarios. I'd venture that the ambient temp is actually more important since that has the strongest influence on intercooler efficiency. (meaning, a hot day with a snorkeled and sealed DCI will underperform a cold day with a bare DCI sucking in heated underhood air.)

I just went and test drove a couple of M4 coupes. One BS DCT and another SO 6MT.
I hate to say that I wasn't all that impressed. They are nice. Much wider inside. GREAT SEATS!!!
They also pull pretty hard - especially the 6MT going from 2nd to 3rd gear. WOW!!!
But, it did not feel $30K faster than my 335is. Just wondering what you guys think?

Sounds like 30 grand for HUD and some tech. Not worth it IMO. A tuned 335is will keep right up with the new M3//M4.

You have me rethinking my decision to pick up an M2 in a couple years. My wife keeps telling me the 335is is a keeper. She's right!

My 335is is fully loaded. The same setup in an M4 cabrio will run me almost $90K.
In that price range, there are a whole lot of other options - including a used GTR.

Maybe it's just me. But, my car feels lighter and more "torquey" still. Anyone else?

Drove a 2015 M3 ... Nice car but the $$$ just don't make sense

Lease at 5.9% for 36 months zero down $1,413 month and $2188 at delivery

Owners Choice at 4.9% for 36 months zero down $1,684 month and $775 at delivery

Needless to say when when I laughed at the monthly the salesman said try a CPO 335is - on owners choice all things being equal the payments are one third!

First of all, I am not a big fan of the M4 design and colors. They definitely know that over at the F82M4POST for sure. I think they could have done so much more with the vehicle and didn't. I mean, look at the Corvette Stingray or the Lexus RC-F. Not everyone's cup of tea, but at least a great redesign and step forward.

Someone just asked me last night if my car was a new M4 - because they couldn't tell the difference with the M-Sport bumpers and all. I was like, "Hmp...Really?"

Sold my 2010 135i (6AT, LSD, 1M conversion, Ohlins, Full M Suspension)

Picked up a 2012 335is (6SP, Fully Loaded) 24K miles

So far I'm loving it. Bigger and softer than my 1er but it is a blast to drive. Pictures to follow.
