After all of the debate threads, I went outside and shot some film.

The car was built at the end of August, so its one of the first few with Comfort Access. I also played around with how the key closes and opens the windows and sunroof.
There is no priority to the windows or mirros, they activate simultaneously. The sunroof begins to open after the windows have opened.

Is it possible to open all with CA (windows and sunroof)?

I didn't see the mirrors unfold when using the remote to open. Is that not possible?

Is it possible to close all with remote? I didn't think it was possible in the US but thought I'd double check.

By holding the button you open the windows, then sunroof, and if the mirrors were originally closed with CA/key (not the button on the interior) then they will open with the windows or when you just unlock the car. The mirrors will only open if they were closed with CA/key, not the remote.

Im guessing, but due to stringent US requirements [and lawsuit happy nation], you cannot close anything with the remote.

I can close everything with the remote. I would assume you can too - press once, press a second time and hold. Viola!

We all can hold unlock on the fob and open all windows/sunroof/etc.

We can also insert the key and close all (including the mirror folding)

So the only thing CA adds to this equation is pressing down/holding on the handle to close everything?

poldim, the closing of windows/roof via remote in the US is a widely contested feature. Many claim it cannot and others say it can or should work. If you can get your windows/roof to close via the remote please shoot video so all discussions can be put to rest. It could be 2006BMW's car got a feature that was supposed to be disabled in the US.

I will try it yet again before lunch, but I'm pretty sure that last time I held lock for about 20 seconds with no movement.

I also held me hand behind the door hand (the method for openning with CA for about 20 seconds with no avail..

Once again, dont forget that the purpose of CA isnt to open and close the windows, but rather to be able to use the car without touching your keys.

Don't know why BMW can't just do what Merc has done with all their cars in the U.S. since the late 90s and let you close the windows/sunroof/car by holding the lock button on the key fob.

They used to, but then they stopped because of legalities. I remember the older 5's used to be able to do it.
