New Top Speed 270.49 with a so call Production Car

Looks like the Veyron is no longer the top dog in the top speed category. They did not say how much power the car had, however, it appears it hit top speed fast than the Veyron did.

The GT has something like 1244HP in the highest setting available. They also didn't show if there was a pass made the other way so nobody could claim they made it to this speed with the help of wind. Impressive none the less.

There wasn't a pass made the other way. Apparently NASA would not allow them to run in the other direction. It didn't look like it had much trouble getting up to 270, so I don't doubt it could be done.

I'm not saying it couldn't be done, just that to hold an "official" world record, people typically run in both directions. I'm sure that they really wouldn't have a problem getting it done.

Is this really a true "production" car? Me thinks not.

I think the reason they stopped at 270, they said they were not sure if they had enough runway left to stop the car, It look like they hit a point and began braking. Remember the Veyron did the same thing over a 5 mile stretch of track and they maintained the speed for a small period of time.

they Make just enough of them for it to be classified as such, but really no. They're amazing cars, but they're also very heavily modified Lotuses, an engineering feat, but i'm not sure why they can't just build their own chasis at this point, since they do all the rest.

While I agree its not production, and hennessey sucks and all that. Thats pretty badass to watch a car accelerate to 270mph like that....
