Could never get me to do that. I can feel the sinking/falling feeling in my feet just looking at those photos.

I'd be dead based on the simple fact that my hands would be too slimy to grip anything.

Wouldn't be surprised to find out that the death rates among "free climbers" is like 10000 times higher than that of "regular climbers." It's probably like .2% versus .0002% but still...

That is why the Russian would kick everyone ass in a war, they are not afraid to die. Plus they get in accidents that would kill or severally injure the average person and walk away like it is an everyday thing.

Does anyone know if anyone had died from doing this kind of thing in Russia

I use to Rock climb and i can tell you climbing when cold is incredibly hard and doing it with any sort of gloves is almost impossible

There are plenty of deaths, but those aren't exactly glorified. They are easy to find on the internet. Kids that have fallen to their death, electrocuted, flattened by trains, etc.

And I guess you're right. You don't have to be afraid to die if you have nothing to live for.

Living on the edge. Literally. More nerve than brains though.

BASE jumping is almost as a crazy, but at least it has some safety features, namely a cord that supposed to catch you.

You mean a cord you're supposed to pull to open your parachute? Or are you thinking of bungee jumping?

Btw those pics are awesome and insane.
If it brings a rush it is worth doing.

It has nothing to do with having something to live for.
It's all about being alive. And I bet those guys feel crazy alive when they are climbing and when they reach the top of an object.

I meant parachute cord (BASE) jumping, but I guess a bungee cord qualifies as a saftey net too

It does look cool. Anyone confirm the pics are real, not photo edited?

Gotcha. The way you wrote "cord that is supposed to catch you" made me think of bungee jumping. I'd definitely say BASE is closest to this freeclimbing stuff in terms of least amount of safety, since you have no reserve - if chute doesn't open there is no second chance.

Heh. I don't think Russia would "kick ass" in war just because they have some kids doing parkour. Not being afraid to die doesn't exactly make you warrior strong, just lines you up to stand at the front of the pack to take some damage.

The accidents like the guy climbing out of the front of the truck from the head on collision is probably a one in a million chance. Take a look at this link so you can comparatively relate US deaths to Russian deaths, I think your view of Russia's citizens is a little skewed.

Another giant NOPE:

http://www.wimp.com/exploretower/

Russian daredevils Vitaliy Raskalov and Vadim Makhorov climb the world's second largest tower in Shanghai, China, during the Chinese New Year. The 2,073-foot Shanghai Tower has 121 floors and can accommodate up to 16,000 people on a daily basis.
