I don't understand why people are comparing bmws to chevys. GM seems to have finally got the camaro right to compete with the mustang.

And it looks like they didn't do any weight reduction on the camaro ss so the C6 can still be the faster car.

The SS Camaro will KILL a Mustang in handling. The Camaro has a fully independant suspension. The Mustang has a crap rear end, made for the dragstrip.

And weight doesn't matter much IF the car is set-up correctly.

The SS Camaro will handle very close to a BMW.

No other car drives like a BMW. They are famous around the world for the way they drive. No Chevrolet will even come close to the same feel. Often imitated never duplicated. Not JMHO.

Weight and weight distribution always matter. They matter even more on tight corners.

Im sure the camaro will be a nice car but its not in the same markets as any bmw.

The SS LS3 Camaro will have the same weight distribution as the 135i 52/48%

Heavier cars can be made to handle great.

The Camaro SS will handle close to a BMW.

Not sure if I like the look of camaro. Probably get a SRT8 Challenger or Charger instead.

I HATE Dodge. And the SRT8 Challenger is bigger and heavier then the Camaro SS. It won't come close in handling.

^^Okay we'll see. I'm still sure it will be close. I HATE chevy but I'm not delusional. The Challenger was 4000lb. The Camaro should be in that neighborhood give or take 100lb. GM hasnt convinced me in the past that they can make a really heavy car handle incredibly well. I'm watching this one carefully.

I know why they are

because they are the exact same market, performance 2 door coupe priced similar

I had to pick between a g37 coupe, a camaro, and the 135i, because I want 2 doors and a back seat, from 30-40,000 $

so they are the exact same market, as far as I'm concerned, I sure cross shopped both for quite a while

Because a lot of us cross shop everything in the performance class. If I had felt like waiting another year for a new car I would have seriously considering one for my GTO replacement. I choose the GTO over an M3 a few years earlier. There aren't that many cars in the 2 door RWD sports coupe market, so everything gets lumped in together.

Challenger SRT8 is ~4250lbs. Camaro SS is ~3850lb. 400 lbs can make quite a difference...

hmmm...

I have a few friends wanting to race my 135i when i get it tuned with the performance parts i have.

My friends cars: LS1 Vette, 350Z and a Mustang Shelby

id like a Camero SS LS3 and Dodge Challenger SRT-8 to be part of the race straight and on the track.

I think itll be a nice race all together being im both a muslce and import fan.

ooh and what the dealer said was the Camaro SS actually goes 0-60 in 5.1 seconds like a 135i and does a qtr mile in 13.3 seconds but does have 422hp 408lbs of torque and dont forget it is an LS3 engine..

Quite a difference. The SS Camaro will blow away the Mustang and PIG Challenger on a track, the kind with corners.

you should race them without a tune, just to see how the cars stack up stock for stock. i bet you will be able to take the 350z, even if its modded (unless its boosted). i'm really curious because i had a ls1 vette and a g35 (basically 350z). don't know anything about mustangs.

The SS LS3 Camaro WILL be awesome. I have decided to get one instead of the 135i. I am too worried about fuel pumps, limp mode, turbo lag, etc with the 135i.
