anyone here lawyers??

just wondering my options are. I was charged with reckless driving and fleeing an officer, a class I felony here in WI.

Story:

Driving on the hwy cursing at 70 mhp, I'd pass this black mustang, as soon as I pass it, it tailgate me, I mean bumper to bumper, I can even see the color of this blond woman eyes. This went on for 3 miles, I was like, ok what's your problem lady? naturally I sped up, I went 75, she went 75, I went 80, she went 80, now I know this woman wants to play stupid; so I floored it, going 1**, lo and behold a cop going north bound on the other side, this is a 4 lane divided hwy so, I never saw this cop, too busy racing anyways, I never saw this mustang again so, I exit out the hwy to a two lane county road (one of my favorite curvy roads), never saw the cop or realized he was chasing me till I got to a stop sign, he was right on my ass and that where I stop. I was order out of my car at gun point, handcuffed and put in the back seat of the cop car while he search my car, found nothing, so he gave the citations as mention above and lets me go.
My court date is to Monday the 14th, will update on how it goes.

If you are charged with a felony the court isn't going to buy you didn't see him and were just racing a Mustang. By the letter of the law you could be guilty of felony eluding. Besides, admitting to one crime to mitigate another isn't a sound defense. A felony is obviously a serious matter, get with a good criminal lawyer ASAP.

If this is a felony it's pretty serious, I wouldn't be LOL if I were in your shoes.
he had already read me my rights after he cuffed me so I just kept quiet, never said anything about the mustang, I was just listing and complying to the officer. According to him, he's not going to take me to jail since I have a clean record, not even a triffic ticket; so idk may be different from state to state.
I am looking into getting a lawyer.

Interesting...

Lesson learned I guess. Even if someone is being a dick, it's not worth it to be a dick back.

I got snagged here in NC for reckless driving/reckless endangerment by a state trooper. No idea why they tagged the reckless endangerment on, the road was empty. Either way, I paid a lawyer and got out of it. It wasn't cheap, but I got no points on my license and no insurance points.

Sum of my costs:
$500 to the lawyer for "that kind of offense"
~$200 in court fees
$50 for the safety class

You gotta pay to play. Good luck.

Make sure you don't go to a cheap-ass lawyer. Spend $1000 if needed be and try not to have this show up in your driving record.

I got a reckless driving in VA. Doing 85 in a 70. As per the VA state law anything over 80 is a reckless driving and a class A misdemeanor. I am from NJ, and hired a lawyer who cut me with a 79 in 70 and no points.

$300 lawyer fee
$250 courtfees
$50 online course
$20 mailing charges

Wouldn't recommend speeding in VA.

1) What color were her eyes? Was she cute?
2) Get a radar detector or other means of helping you avoid situations like this.
3) In situations like this when I'm being goaded, I'll usually slow down and let the other car go first.

My reckless driving cost me way more in lawyer fees than in court fees and all that, sounds like I need to find a different lawyer for next time, wait I mean if there's a next time.

update

I think I have a winnable case here; according to the officer's report he did not catch me on radar, he estimated I was doing 100 mph and he did see a silver and a black car speeding but came after me since he remember seeing my led DRL, so going 100 they gave me a reckless driving citation of $300

The felony charge is for fleeing/eluding an officer, so again according to his report, he saw my car going east bound on the overpass bridge while he was about to go under the bridge, he made a U turn at the next turn around then exited to the hwy I was on and thought I had increased my speed to get away from him, we were 7 miles from where he first saw my car to where he stopped me.

Which it's entirely not true, I never saw his lights; at this point it's his word against mine, I'll need to see the dash cam video to prove that he's right or I'm right.

Well if he didn't get you on radar I don't know how any lawyer could lose this... He's got really no proof. They can try to fall on the whole "trained to estimate" nonsense, but we all know any decent lawyer will rip that up.

Plea out of the felony and stick with the reckless, easiest on time and money. If you have the money/time to fight it all then go for it.

Spend the money for a lawyer on the felony portion. I researched and researched and know I could've fought my own case BUT the money to save yourself from potential disaster is well worth it; kind of like insurance. I had a similar situation; clocked slowing down at 104. Any lawyer will wreck that fleeing charge easily if all the cop got was you whizzing by without him giving chase prior. And if that doesn't work, your lawyer will most likely pull the character and first offense thing. I don't foresee too much trouble. KEEP THAT RECORD CLEAN at ALL COSTS.

Guessing you were on 29?

Been caught there in a very similar situation in the past and found a lawyer to get me out of everything. The estimation of speed can be a hard one to get out of as they have training to help them with that.

Don't remember which lawyer it was or if the guy is even still in that area/practicing anymore.

Well unfortunately my incident happened a year ago. I was out at a street meet here in Houston off the beltway and just left the meet and caught a light with an 03 cobra with some 26"drag radials and a Gopro mounted on the top and he looked at me and smiled. Meanwhile I was staring at the light with my car stalled up a houston constable pulled right behind the cobra. Naturally we both leave the light WOT I get to about 85 and losing and I see lights. We both go straight to jail. It's a non ticket able offense. And I almost lost my job since I drive a company vehicle.
Lawyer=$1,500
Bail=$150
Fees=$500
Defensive driving=$50
Donation=$50 (crime stoopers)
Probation for 9 months.
Lesson learned. I have been to that meet twice since then and no racing.

I took the plea deal, just have to complete a couple of driving classes and all charges will be dropped to a speeding ticket; I will be a free man in Oct.

this my first time offense, so I got a pretty good plea deal, given the situation

I hear you, street racing isn't cheap; I've lost over $4000 in lawyer fees, court cost, class cost
