Halogen bulbs with Xenon-like look?
Was wondering if any of you NON-Xenon owners have found any bulbs out there that have a similar xenon-like look. I know/understand that it will not be as bright as Xenon, however I was just wanting to get a bright/white look, but not that stupid, blue-purplish look that a lot of cars have. Also wondered what brand(s) are reliable and have good longevity? Thanks for any advice...
I tried to search the forum, but no luck |

I got som MTEC 4750K bulbs for my bike and those where exactly the same color as the LED DRLīs on the bike, so you can try for those. Just be aware that choosing a "white" halogen bulb adds a color filter. Every time you add a filter, you decrease light output.
There was a very good test recently. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1068018 Now.. Choosing a "Xenon look" bulb vs "not as blue" Osram Nightbreker Unlimited bulb will do two things 1. It WILL give your car a more xenon like look when the lights are on. 2. It WILL rob you of ~70feet range and 25 feet width on your lowbeam. Now.. I had the MTEC bulbs on my bike because I only ride during the day, and night time here in Sweden (We are as far north as southern Alaska) doesnt GET dark in the summer.

No such thing exists. You will never achieve the same color temperature and intensity of an HID bulb in a halogen. I know this because I've been through about a half dozen offerings and, despite all the clever verbiage and marketing, none came even close for my fog light setup.

I was just looking at the LED offerings out there, but noticed that most are not compatible with a sealed back headlight assembly. Don't know why... maybe they don't get enough air... ? Anyone out there use LEDs with sucess?

Leds with some power create alot of heat. Probably ventilation needs to be good.

Are the pre-LCI angel halogens indeed H7? I can't remember since I have LEDs in my LCI convertible and I can't remember back to my 328 coupe. |
