One spot you guys havn't mentioned that has OUTSTANDING BBQ, is Pecan Lodge in Dallas. I havn't been to Franklins yet, but I've tried Lockhart smokehouse and salt lick, and I would say Pecan Lodge beats em out by a fair margin. It's absolutely the best brisket and burnt ends I've had. It is quite an experience. It's located in a shack in the Dallas farmers market, and it to has a line for about 1-2 hours daily, from the time they open until they run out, which is far before their close time. I believe they are moving to a stand alone location in the Deep Ellum district of Dallas.

Lol, I assume this thread was made because of the Jimmy Kimmel show covering it. I was actually at the taping two days ago.

La Barbeque is my favorite place these days. Salt Lick was great 15 years ago but they're average at best these days.

Haven't been to Franklin yet. I'm just happy that they have a Lockhart in Plano now.

I've heard about Pecan Lodge and will have to make the trip South to Dallas to try it out. Forgot about that spot. Alot of "price gauging" going on for BBQ around here. I mean you can't get a 2-meat plate and couple of sides for under $17 hardly. I mean we ain't talking ribeye here.

All of you Texas people and your fancy BBQ places. Here in North Carolina we eat our BBQ at places like this and I wouldnt want it any other way. These are 2 of my favorite places to eat

Most Texas BBQ shacks look even grungier than that, to be honest (And I say that as a mark of pride)

True. The above pics actually looks like an upscale spot compared to Texas BBQ joints...
