Has anyone had their JB4 reset while they're driving?
I have it set so the needle gauge sweeps when I start the car. I'll be on map 2 or something, and while I'm driving, the need gauge will sweep while I'm going down on the highway..
Usually when it does that, the car will also jitter. It doesn't happen often, but maybe once every few months. I usually reset the JB4 back to map 0 or restart the car, and it's fine... All connections fine, yada yada yada

I don't have the gauge sweep enabled but have not had any issues with the JB4. The gauge sweep is set to only happen on startup so if it is happening while driving the car, something is causing the JB4 to think the car was started/re-started. I'd double check the CAN wire connections.

Check your installation. Perhaps your power tap for the JB4 is loose...?

Shouldn't be. I've checked connectors. I've had the unit for about 2.5 years now without issues. Once in a while it will happen even on start up. It's not frequent, but enough to annoy me.

I used to have that happen intermittently before I had my installation fixed, the wires are now soldered in place and I've yet to experience it since.

I had it happen one day as well. turned off the car, turned it back on and haven't had any issues in over 6months
Edit: My jb4 acted funny last night 8/28/14. Restarted the car and it went away. Merged onto the freeway and my chargepipe blew.

Resurrecting an OLD thread. Running map 1 and have had JB4 reset itself several times over last past couple of days. Checked power (reseated power), checked and moved ground. First test and JB4 appears to have reset itself again after running a few minutes.
Could it be the board? Welcome to any ideas. Terry...thoughts? |

My JB4 was doing something similar. My issues started with the gauge sweep happening randomly as I was driving, never really bothered me too much. Then my car started to do the sweep and it started stuttering on accelartion kind of like a misfire, the gauges would go crazy at this point. The needles would continue sweeping or one would get stuck somewhere along the way, if i tried to turn off the tune it would freeze up and leave me with just the orange screen and the needles stuck until I restarted the car. It got so bad that i was driving the car for a few weeks without the tune even being on.
A few days ago I cleaned the CAN wires really good and reinstalled them and since then I've had no problems and the car runs perfectly fine. Try cleaning the CAN wires and checking to make sure all your sensors are in tight.

Exactly the same symptoms as mine...exactly. I'll clean the CAN wires tomorrow. This is my 2nd 335, both of which have had JB4's. On car #1, I installed and when I did, I made sure the CAN wires were surgically clean. I inherited this install (2nd 335) so, troubleshooting something I didn't install.

I'd cut the wires back to remove any residue then strip and solder them in to eliminate that possibility. I only cleaned mine with alcohol and twisted them within the other wires (untwisted those first.)
Are you on ISO 5.11?

i cleaned the CAN wire extremely well, applied electrical tape, heat shrink, etc. I pulled the clear plastic 'boot' off and there was a fair amount of residue so we'll see if that works. Stupid question...how do I check ISO version?

How do you check logs? Usb or bluetooth? If your not running ISO you should. There is the stock jb4 that runs an older firmware then there is ISO that requires cutting a diode on the board and flashing with ISO firmware.

I'm running the G5 board, which from what I know, is running ISO.

I had my JB4 go mental for a while.
If you have the extension harness it can be dodgy, I had mine cut off and hard wired back in. Also in general the JB4 harness is poor quality, replacing it might help.
