Yup, that's true enough and my point is that I don't care even remotely enough about vandalization to affect my choice in cars but at the same time I don't want to increase my odds with a vanity plate. It's just a personal preferece.

It's like door dings, you can park anywhere and hope you don't get dinged or you can pick your spots a little more carefully, walk an extra 20 feet and reduce your chances of getting dinged, you don't eliminate the possibility, just reduce your odds. Unless of course you take up two spaces in which case you almost guarantee yourself getting keyed with a crowbar.

Happened to my supervisor when I was in the Air Force at Norton AFB. He bought a new 240Z (this was 1974), and used to park 100 spaces away from civilization. However, he always took up two spaces. Came back to his car one day and someone had keyed the entire side of his car, leaving a note to "not take up two spaces". He was so pissed off, he couldn't see straight for a month.

Understood, I was just explaining the point.

I noticed he has the plate locked! I guess if you are actually able to get that past the DMV, you've got something pretty valuable!

In got my plate same as my ED plate "M 7318 Z" Doesn't get too much attention. Some people may know what it represents. I know what it represents and the memories it brings back. It has some meaning, but it out there enough not to get me keyed. On my G35 I had "Veloce G." Italian for fast. Also just esoteric enough to not have anything bad happen to my car, but to attract enough curious questions.

I know a guy who has "FUN4ME" as a tag on his "lady-porsche-S". If it's not already taken in your state, it's a winner.

When I went and got my personalized plated last week, you write down what you want your plate to say and then above it you have to write what it means. I guess that way if your plates means something like "buy drugs here" or "screw my mom" and they can't see that they can reject it. They said they reject quite a few/day.

As a rule, I don't like personalised plates, but MOV OVR actually made me smile My favourite was a self-deprecating PEN 1S on a Countach I spotted in London some years back
