^^^ I love bunny pics!

Well I finally saw both of the young white-tailed kites this weekend. Here mom sits off the the left. They had all been flying around when I pulled up, so of course they sat in this tree for the full hour that I waited

Not the best shot, but they wouldn't turn to face the camera no matter what!

A freind of mine works for Burlington Northern Santa Fe and told me about this "employee special" that they would be running for family members the other night. If you look hard you can see all the camera geeks with their heads sticking out the roof of the third car back while they cross the trestle. That must be a pretty good view from up there!

Very cool, I like the look.

The shot below, I actually took back in January. I wasn't happy with that morning's shoot, so I never processed any of the photos.

Looking over them again tonight, in between doing some work, I decided that I could like a couple of them with a bit of PP.

Shot with the 6D and TS-E 17. Boca Raton, Florida, in one of my favorite stops to enjoy the view of the ocean near Palmetto Park Blvd and the famous A1A (locals will know where this is, and non locals can click on the Flickr link to see the map).

This one was a landscape that had a person in it. I cropped him out making the photo into portrait orientation (cropped half the photo) and brought up the shadows a lot. Not too noisy - I am rather impressed with the Dynamic Range of the 6D. There's some flare from what I think were water droplets on the CPL filter that had dried up. This one was shot at ISO 100 on a tripod, with a CPL as mentioned and a GND ... On a separate note I think Fotodiox sent me a soft edge GND instead of a hard edge one, but I digress...

Nicely done.

I'm guessing that you had to raise Shadows in Raw conversion. I'm a little surprised that the GND didn't make the underside of the bridge too dark, but it looks good here. (Oh I reread and saw that you said you brought up the shadows).

My first step in Raw conversion is almost always to adjust Shadows. Next I set the Black point, then adjust Contrast before I do anything else. I don't know how I lived without the Shadows control before.

Wow Chewy, very interesting take on Monticello.

I took a totally different tack (not competing, we're in totally different modes here, but it's a great subject):

Nice shot, Paul. Care to share your hi-tech reflector technique? Maybe a pic of it if you're not planning on submitting a patent application?

Thanks Dave. Yeah, Monticello is a really beautiful place.

The reason I decided to do HDR was because it was super bright and sunny that day, and I didn't bring any filters. So, I figured I could shoot HDR to get a nice sky. I was still able to get really fast shutter speeds despite f/9 at -3 stops, so I could shoot easily without a tripod.

Here's another:

Chewy, were you using a CPL or just the straight lens and HDR bracketed shots?

EDIT:Never mind, just saw the new post. No filters. Love the reflection in the second shot.

I often think of doing that, but where do you get the time? I'm swamped with current production. (I would have reprocessed my Monticello image that I just posted if I had some extra time).

When school is in session, my calendar looks like an almost completed jigsaw puzzle. No time to sneeze. But in the summer when the faculty is away, it gets pretty slow here. I just set up a Mac Mini with my Thunderbolt screen. The Mac Mini has an i7 quad core and 16GB RAM, so it's pretty snappy. I went with a standard 1TB drive instead of a smaller SSD, so it's not as fast as it could be. But I'm enjoying Photoshop on it. Serious pixel peeping.

Very nice Mark.
I know what you mean, Kev. I snuck the 24mm TS-E by Wifey this week. She'd faint if she knew. Then she'd wake up and kill me. I'd love a 500mm f4 IS, but those are really tough to sneak by anyone. Serious 800lb gorilla, that lens.
