*WANTED* I am looking for a 2007-2008 BMW 335i Sedan *WANTED*
If you have a 2007 or 2008 BMW 335i sedan automatic w/sports package and paddle shifters and want to sell it, let me know. I'm only looking for 2007 or 2008 because I don't have a big budget. Feel free to try to sell me 2009 and up but I will "lowball" you. The perfect car I'm looking for would be a 2007 BMW 335i sedan auto w/ paddle shifters black on black. Black paint, black interior, and black rims. But I will consider all. The only colors I'm interested in is black, white, or silver. No blue, tan, or anything else. Must have less than 120,000 miles. Preferably 100,000 and under. Must have sports package with paddle shifters. Please don't try to sell me your "baby" meaning you have invested thousands into it with performance upgrades and such because I am not paying outrageous prices. I plan to upgrade everything myself. Let me know. Text/call me at Nine 1 2 - 6 0 four - 3 2 8 eight or p.m. EDIT: Doesn't absolutely need paddle shifters because they are available aftermarket. Must have manual option though on shifter stick. Prefer paddle shifters though. BTW My max spending limit is $12,000. Doesn't mean I will offer you $12,000. I will spend that much if the car is perfect in my opinion. Perfect color, mileage, etc. Many factors EDIT: No more offers. Read update below Last edited by tlerwane; 06-06-2014 at 09:59 PM.. Question
Notice how I made an EDIT talking about the paddle-shifters. I've called around and to get paddle-shifters added, it must have manual option. I asked if all 335i's have manual option and have gotten mixed answers (including from BMW workers via phone). So my question is, do all BMW 335i's have manual option on shifter knob even if it doesn't have the sports package paddle-shifters? Can't seem to get a clear answer. Thanks in advanced

I thought so too... at first
I thought that too until I started researching them for the last few months. I originally was going to get an older M3 until I found out the price range I could get a 335i for. Go to eBay and look at past listings. Many are selling for $10,000-$12,000 and only a few sell for more than that and they're almost always sold by dealerships. But yeah, on these sites (BMW Forums) that price range is low because most people on these forums are passionate about their BMW's and have done upgrades and refer to their car as their "baby". I figured I'd try these sites out to broaden my search. I just searched around for less than 5 minutes and found these:
http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-s...ice=11000&mmt=[BMW[335I[]][]]&listingId=364803901&Log=0 http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-s...ice=11000&mmt=[BMW[335I[]][]]&listingId=372845522&Log=0 My point is that it's definitely possible (quite easily) to find these cars for less than $12,000. EDIT: For some reason links aren't working. Just got to autotrader.com and search for BMW 335i less than $12,000 and you will find many of them for sale. Both dealerships and private sellers. Another point
These cars gained so much popularity when they first came out so there are many used ones around. A lot of BMW dealerships won't even buy these cars from you due to the amount of used ones that are around and the fact that 2007 and 2008 models are so abundant. I'm just trying to find the "perfect" one for me before I drop $10,000.

Both those links are invalid btw. Find a car for $12,000 and I guarantee you'll spend atleast 1-2k fixing it in the first year, so if you really can't stretch for a properly maintained car then I would look for something else. Not saying this to be a dick but you're not going to be happy when you're spending money fixing it because you were expecting the "perfect" car for 12k

Saw the auto trader cars. They all have over 100k miles and most are over 120k miles. How do you expect that car to be perfect? you are just asking for trouble. At that budget find a 328.

No more offers
Thanks for all the offers guys. No more though. I just bought a 2007 335i for $10,000 locally and yes, it passed the comprehensive inspection with flying colors. Only thing negative mentioned was that the oil was changed over 6,000 miles ago and was a little thick. And even with that being said, I've seen some BMW owners go 8,000 miles with same oil and have no problems. I will post pictures later. White exterior w/ tan interior. 125,000 miles but girly-girl driven since 48,000 miles. I'm pretty confident she didn't know the true power of these cars. No paddle-shifters like I wanted but those are easy to add later on. This way I can get the better M3 style paddle-shifters that shift down on left side and shift up on right side versus the regular 335i paddle-shifters where each side can shift either up or down which I was not fond of anyways. Trick is to search local adds and meet with them and/or talk over phone with them to find out more. My specific situation was a spoiled college girl wanted a new car and the "older" dad agreed and didn't know much about cars in general (specifically BMW's and turbos) and he agreed on my offer of $10,000 to sell her current car to go towards getting her a newer car. He even left paperwork in glove box that showed how much he paid in 2010 and it was from a reputable high-end dealer. He paid $24,900 with fees and everything included. So again, those looking for 335i's but aren't willing to spend $15,000-$20,000 on offers from these forums, go local and be patient. You will eventually find one.

Congrats on the car bro.
In case you don't have paperwork for the long list of things that ALWAYS go wrong on these cars, I would really factor in a budget to replace those asap and/ or cover a tow bill. Oil pump housing HPFP (as youre over warranty) Injectors Turbo actuators Trans oil change!!!! If you want to DIY PM me as I have some unopened containers. This is the key to trans longevity Water pump/ thermostat Cam cradle Subframe Valve cover gaskets Walnut blast Not trying to hate, but spend enough time researching this drivetrain and you will see that these fail on nearly all cars, so be prepared for it. Its not gonna be cheap if you can't DIY. Good luck! |

Not sure about the rest as of now. Already have transmission fluid as I knew I was getting a 335i with over 100,000 miles where it's likely never been changed out. I've heard good things about walnut blasts. People say they can tell the difference before and after. What do you think? EDIT: Researching transmission fluid replacement and noticed there were people using different colored bottle on 335i's. I have a 325i also and the leftover unopened bottles say for all automatic BMW models. The 325 I have also has manual option too. This is what fluid I have now. http://www.eeuroparts.com/Parts/4959...#axzz33vAjXaYe Do you know if its the same for 335 turbos? Just noticed DIY's where bottles looked different than mine even though black bottle says for all BMW automatic transmissions. Last edited by tlerwane; 06-06-2014 at 10:41 PM.. |

No!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Absolutely do NOT use that in your tranny
You need Lifeguard 6 Trans fluid. Thats it. Nothing else. I have 6 extra liters (enough for a total change) sitting in my garage, Ill give it to you at a discount if you want it. $100 to ensure the life of your $4000 transmission is a wise investment |

Good save
OK, thanks for the save. I might be interested. Now I have an extra black bottle of automatic fluid. Why trans fluid though? Just curios in difference
EDIT What about walnut blasts? Notice any difference before and after? |

Because if you use something besides what is specified, it will likely cause damage to your transmission.
Walnut blast makes a huge difference if you have build up...you can get a cheap camera to inspect through the TB...or just have it done...its pretty cheap and if it hasnt been done yet, it will need it. |
