Big Score on a 2010 DCT M3? Auctioning My Low Residual Or Turning It In Next Week

BIMMERPOST / Classifieds
Asking Price:
None

Item Interest
Hi Everyone,

Been a while since I've been here....been out driving, I guess. Anyway, lease came due on me and I've replaced the M3 with my trusty M5, but I noticed that even after sales tax and other fees are figured in I think I have a low residual. So I'm going to pass along the savings to someone who wants it if it can be done quickly.

Broad strokes: 2010 M3 Sedan, loaded with DCT, Premium & Technology Packages, heated seats...the works. Alpine White over Fox Red interior. Just shy of 32,000 miles. Starting the bids at $35,000, entertaining offers in the $40K range to end the auction.

Well, I guess I do indeed have a deal for someone on my hands, because I got a bid already while I was posting this. Here's the listing for anyone interested:

Wow that is a great deal. Hope it doesn't sell for 35k because then 1/2 the cars on this forum just got devalued

Good luck!

Haha, it's more just a reflection of the time that I leased it and some killer negotiating skills, if I do say so myself....

I knew it was a good price, but judging from the emails I'm getting it's better than I thought. Here's to good deals!

FWIW I think you are kidding but a low residual is not a reflection of good negotiation skills... It is typically not negotiable and if it were, you would actually want a high residual to improve your lease payment.

GLWS, I love the color combo!

OP,
Mind sharing what your lease terms were? Monthly payment, 36months, taxes included, msrp, down payment, etc.

Thanks!

Let's see how good my memory is...payment is easy, $1164/mo with taxes included. It was 36 months with 12k miles/year allowed, down payment was basically zero but I paid $2500 or so in various drive-off fees & 1st month payment, lease factor translated to .9 or 1.9% APR (can't remember for sure), MSRP was just shy of $70k. Something in there...

I was indeed kidding, but I don't think you can negotiate residual with BMWFS, can you? I think they base that number on the term of the lease and the allotted mileage. Your payment is then determined by the difference between the negotiated price and the residual multiplied by the # of months in the term and with the lease factor applied. I was under the impression that to decrease your monthly payment you negotiate sales price or lease factor, no?

Best. Color. Combo. Ever. Thanks!

Sorry, it's late, misread your post. Yeah, residual isn't negotiable, it was the price and the lease factor that got me the low residge.

Hate to break it to you bro, but once the f80 rolls into showroom floors, the e9x M's are going to take a hit. E60 M's owners are feeling it right now. Last July I was looking for a 2009 or 10 e60 m5 with no more than 20k on the clock. Dealer pricing started a $55k depending on options. Today, dealers are asking $49k -$55k depending on options.

Op, you have a great car. Glws

If no one buys it and you have to turn into dealer... Want to swap interiors? Love that red interior
