Thanks, guys. I'm still going to make a few trips to the showroom before I make my selection.

I'll have a look at the Omega Speedmasters as well since they look a lot sportier than the Seamasters.

What are your thoughts on the Speedmaster Professional. It can be had in either manual-winding or automatic version.

Thats a nice classy watch too. Although Im not a fan of chronos since I came to the realization that I would never actually use its functions. So I like a cleaner face now. You want an automatic watch, not manual winding. You dont want to have to constantly make sure its ticking. Just stick it on your wrist and go. When you want a manual wind, pick up an IWC Portuguese.

For chrono's I like the Porsche line. But.........they are extremely expensive. This is my favorite. I can't handle all those buttons sticking out. I would rip a whole in someone or something very quickly.

To the above, I apply it to the below.

I would only buy collaberation watches, not company branded. Like the new Ferrari/Panerai juncture, those are hot. I used to have a Ferrari/JLC but it got stolen  Although I do currently have an F1 Williams Oris watch.

I have aadd so I can read things once. Is this saying the Porsche's should be a good watch or a piece of overpriced paper weight? I will never pay 50K for a watch but am curious.

Overpriced paperweight. You honestly dont need to spend more than 10k to find an exceptionally nice watch unless you want to start getting into precious metals and gems.

i think hyperm3 is stating that there are exceptions....like the panerai ferrari colabo or the ferrari jlc....

as for porsche design everything they make is like 10x more expensive than normal...even their cufflinks are more expensive than like a tiffany pair.......
my two cents

I like this one a lot because of the carbon fiber dial. I think it's unique. You can get it with metal bracelet, too.

If you want an incredible Swiss made watch without wasting a lot of money IMHO you can't beat Chase-Durer. Check out:

http://www.chase-durer.com/

I have this one with the dark blue bezel that people compliment me on all the time and it is built like a tank. At $695 it is a steal. They make more expensive ones if you want.

^ if youre a pilot. Way too overcomplicated. To the OP, stick with the Omega and start your hobby there.

Actually the C-D's are worn by some of the most serious pilots in the world, but maybe not the richest.

I wasnt bashing Omegas, Ive been a fan from the start....

...that being said, I will NEVER pay more than 1K for a watch unless it has an automatic movement. If I wanted a quartz movement, I would buy a swatch.

My husband has the blue tag monaco and I absolutely love it. It looks good with anything dressy or casual. Definitely a classic and he gets compliments on it all the time.
