Let me say this about that...

Feel free to type however you wish. Understand, however, that I reserve the right to judge you based upon what I read just as if I were to see or hear from you in person. If your grammar is poor, I am justified in assuming you are uneducated.

What always amuses me, however, are those who mock the English of immigrants when more often than not theirs is the superior.

There's a great line in V for Vendetta, where he tells someone that he's there to kill her for what she did, not what she'd hoped to do.

The lazy grammar people have the same attitude as the murdered scientist - sure, they could write properly, they're all geniuses, they're super-duper busy and only trying to help, etc - they don't want to be judged on how they actually behave, but how they could behave if, you know, their lives weren't more full and important than everyone elses. If time is at such a premium, why don't they all wear Depends and skip going to the bathroom, too?

If behaving properly in public is too much effort for you, too time-consuming, whatever, the same options apply on the internet as in real life - excuse yourself.
i dont know. its a forum, its online. i try not to take personalities from forums/online too seriously--i think some people take this forum too seriously and take whats written at face value, when in reality you dont know the person/their ideas/how they talk etc. i mean if i cared more, sure i would type with capital I's and make sentences instead of phrases but frankly i dont care. i have nothing to prove online, while others believe they do.

I agree and disagree.
I think that it does demonstrate your intelligence, but it also demonstrates your IMMATURITY when you go correcting everyone in public forums. Especially when you obviously understand what people are trying to convey, rather then carrying on the topic casually, you chose to demonstrate your, self-perceived, "superiority" in English over others, which indirectly demonstrates immaturity. The world does not revolve around you, rather, you need to learn to conform to the world, learn to deal with differences and diversity.

Jesus, why is this thread still alive? If you type like an idiot, don't cry when people treat you like an idiot. It's as simple as that.

When referring to a hanging, it drives me crazy when people say: "He was hung."

No, that meant he had a huge cock. If a noose was tied around and his neck and he was killed, he was "HANGED." I know it doesn't sound right, but if someone was executed, they were "hanged." Not "hung."

[QUOTE=L8Apex;2724314]"IMPACT" is NOT a VERB. I don't care if the American Heritage people say it's okay, I don't care if William Safire allows it -- it's wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, WRONG[QUOTE]

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!! Same can be said for "loan". The nuns I had in elementary school stressed that one "lends" money or an object, and the object of that transaction is a "loan". You do not loan anything to anybody.
