It's funny i get the 'oh yeah and what else are you doing' or 'how can you afford that at your age' stuff all the time. To be honest it doesn't bother me one bit... however it seems to bother the people making those comments.

Some people would rather believe that a young person is doing something 'dodgy' than accept they can legitimately afford a nice car, house etc.

If i was living at home still i'd be in a GT3 with a deposit on the 2012/13 GT3 down eagerly awaiting my November delivery

23, bought the car just over a year ago.
Lucky to live in an area where insurance is very low and no, I don't still live with my parents
Love the car more than the other half would care to know... apart from when something needs replacing!

HP agreements are very top heaving with interest.

At a rough guess you will be currently paying about £250 per month interest and if you keep the car for 5 years you will be around £85 per month in interest on average.

I think you bought your car long enough ago that values have improved a bit which will help.

However on a HP agreement you've not eaten too much into the loan amount and been paying lots of the interest first.
Interest is calculated over the term these days not applied all at the beginning fella! You pay more at the beginning just as the total owed amount is higher but only 7.1% of 25k over year one, then 7.1% of 25k minus 12 payments for year 2, etc. It evens out over the term and I knew I planned to keep the car 3-4 years (till the M4 came out at the time. Now likely till the M2 comes out)

7.1% APR direct with BMW at the time their opening gambit was 8.9 and they got talked down. It's not really a great deal when so many car companies are offering 4% APR on new cars or even 0%, and the base rate is 0.5: But it was enough for me to accept it.

I was previously on an under 5% rate with the 350z (an extremely good deal offered via a broker).

Obviously I was totally out with that figure :-) I'd calculated based on the car cost and not included the cost of finance - as I wasn't really paying attention.

Actual numbers have month 1 interest at 147 and month 60 interest at £2. Or to average that out over the term £79.50 pcm interest.

ahh that seems more like it! I did wonder if you'd only taken a 5k loan or something!

Well he missed the boat as I had been 'considering' selling since last October. Finally bit the bullet in Feb and gutted ever since. Interlagos with champagne interior is hard to beat too. I did ask the new owner for first refusal and to call me when he decides to sell.

Yeah it has to be champagne. We saw an interlagos red + champagne in a garage but he wasn't really ready to buy. It was a perfect combo.
