IMO these cars are getting more appealing as time goes on. I am personally very close to ordering a c7 now. most likely will own one in the year 2015.

Ever since Chevy took the lid off, we knew the new Corvette Z06 would be fast. We just didn't know how fast, until now...

Hot off the presses, Chevrolet has now confirmed that the new Z06 will run from 0 to 60 miles per hour in less than 3 seconds – 2.95 seconds, to be precise, when equipped with the eight-speed automatic transmission. Stick with the standard seven-speed manual and you're looking at 3.2 seconds, which is still a few tenths quicker than the previous ZR1, which the new Z06 effectively replaces. It's awfully hard to verify such things, but this could very well be the first front-engine, rear-drive production car to crack the three-second barrier.

Impressed? Hold on, there's more: the Z06 will run the quarter-mile in 10.95 seconds with the automatic, 11.2 with the manual – either way reaching 127 mph by the end of the strip. It takes less than 100 feet (barely longer than a regulation basketball court) to stop from 60 mph, and will circle the skidpad at 1.2 g. (All the downforce that helps achieve that last figure, though, is expected to hamper the as-yet unquoted top speed.)

If you're wondering how all those elements add up, GM reports that the new Z06 is the fastest vehicle ever to lap its 2.9-mile road course at Milford, knocking a full second off the ZR1's previous record. Not too shabby for a vehicle costing less than $80k. Feel free to read all the official details below.
I'm going to assume that the <100 ft stopping distance is with the carbon ceramic brakes.

2.95 sec 0-60 and 10.9 sec 1/4 mile.

Not bad for a car primarily designed to go around road courses.

Exactly. These numbers are for the Z06 w/Z07 pkge. Meaning full on aero and down force. Imagine if it were the stage 1 base Z06 without the down force bits. Dont forget the 1.2g's for the Z07 pkge. Crazy grip.

I'm positive the numbers will be improved upon significantly. Chevrolet sandbag their 1/4-mile figures they publish.

100% bone stock C6 ZR1s have gone 10.6-10.7 @ 132-133, and I have no reason to believe the C7 Z06 will be slower. More power, less weight, better tires, better transmission/gearing.

Expect to see them going going 10.40-10.50 @ 135 MPH in capable hands under good weather conditions 100% stock, not to mention faster around any track than any car this side of the $1m P1, 918, or LaFerrari.

Can't wait to see RANGER get his hands on one for the 1/4. low 10's is a HIGH possibility. First car to get basic bolt on's and break into the 9's quite possibly.

All numbers (performance & price) are impressive, the Z06 with Z07 package looks amazing.
I was looking through the Z06 page on GM's website, and they advertise 4G LTE connectivity. Initially I thought that's a pretty cool thing, although I don't the need for it with smartphones.

It made me think:
With GPS and 4G LTE, how hard do you think it will be for GM, insurance companies, and the gov to track our habits?
Well, really easy. Speeding, your location, even hacking into the car and controlling it remotely.

The more cars these days are incorporating internet connectivity and GPS systems, it will be extremely easy to track our habits - and use it against us whenever needed. Just food for thought.

I use to have a Porsche 996 4S and have be seriously thinking about getting another because I love the 911 but.... With options that compare to the Z06 fully loaded a new C4S would closer to 140k+ and down 250hp.

The Z06 is hands down the best bang for the buck and no doubt has the German's attention!
Never thought I would own an american sports car but it looks like that may be a very real possibility

Did it take LTE connectivity to make you realize this? This has been very possible ever since cars came equipped with satellite navigation over 20 years ago.

I drive all my cars with my tin hat on, jamming all satellite or network signals. Problem solved.

When a car is faster than every other car regardless of price, it's no longer bang for the buck. This implies that performance is scaled down to a lesser degree than price relative to other cars out there. When there is no performance compromise, it's just bang.

A Ford Fiesta ST or Subaru WRX, however...now there's bang for your buck.

The embedded LTE usually works in conjunction with the nav units (google maps, streetview, apps, etc.) Also provides a hotspot for tablets and laptops on trips. At least that is how it works in an Audi. It is quite nice to have.

Can't wait to see these at HPDE. The last one I did there was a Zr1 in my group with what must have been open pipes. The car was just nuts, I gave him a point just after t11. By the time he was at the end of the straight I was only halfway haha. It was like I was tied to a tree.

Best thing about the C7 Z06 is that its going to make C6 Z06 and C6 ZR1 prices plummet. I can't wait!!!

Last year a buddy of mine had his silver ZR1 at the Glen and took a friend for a ride in the instructors group. She said every car in the group was like a moving chicane and she never had so much fun in a car before!

Apparently these are coming off the factory line now. Hoping to see reviews before too long.

Well I believe production is starting or close to starting as customers should start receiving them by summer (or soon) next year.

Production has started for a few weeks now and people will have them in a couple of weeks if not sooner.

Yeah, I think by early January is when customers receive theirs. It was in January 2014 that the Z06 production model was shown, I can't believe that Jan 2015 (what they said we should expect as first deliveries) is already here.

There are people that are tracking that there car has been built and is in Quality Control Hold at this time. It was the same case with the Stingrays last year and this QC hold typically lasts a couple of weeks. I would not be surprised if some people receive theirs in December.
