Wondering if someone can point me in the right direction with a bit of an issue recoding rear parking sensors on my E87 130i.
I have fitted a known good PDC unit from my old E91, and a Professional head unit with built in BT/USB (also removed from the same E91) PDC was working in that, it came from the factory with the original professional radio, not the BT/USB one, and also rear only PDC. so my thinking is that the PDC unit is correct for a $663,$507 car? I have added the VO's back into the CAS and FRM via Protool ($507 for PDC, $663,$6fl,$6nn for the headunit) Head unit is working both with BT and USB, but getting nothing for the PDC. Originally the car had a business head unit, and its PDC unit was missing when I got the car (though sensors and loom are in place) and $507 was missing from the VO, so presumably unit failed and was coded out by a previous owner. any ideas what steps I'm missing to get the PDC functional again? I have seen mention on those using NCSexpert about doing a full recode of the car after updating the VO, but not sure where that option is in Protool, after adding the VO's it coded it to the FRM and CAS? my NCSexpert laptop bit the dust, figured I would give Protool a shot. |

Protool can't default code all modules (not in one operation, anyhow). But it will offer to default code any which are affected when you update the VO. So long as the default coding worked after you set the relevant options in the VO, all should be well. That said, you could try to default code the PDC itself in protool, and see if that helps?

Hello all, I recently installed the factory alarm hardware in my E90 and would like to activate the alarm via Protool. I have already done much coding to my E90, including angel eyes and folding mirrors. So my 2 questions are this:
1. Does anybody know whether the vehicle order $302 or +K302 will need to be added to activate the alarm (or both)? 2. Would I be able to make a backup of my CAS, FRM and KOMBI, modify the vehicle order (which would default these modules), and then upload the backups to the corresponding modules to retain the coding I have already done? I know this sounds like I'm being lazy, but I'd rather not have to code certain things like oil temperature again. |

However, I cant see the PDC module anywhere in Protool though? would it be a standalone unit like the CAS or FRM, or is it in a submenu somewhere? |

That doesn't sound like it has worked. It would ask you if you want to save the modified VO to FRM and/or CAS, but it should then ask if you want to default code the PDC (and any other affected module). Are you sure 503 is correct, and you're adding it correctly in protool? If I remember right, you should just be able to select from a list?

if I check out the VO, 507 is listed in the active options list. Guess I could try removing, saving, and re-adding? was expecting it just to work given the PDC unit is working on the same options as it was in the E91 (663 and 507) |

yep, found out why the previous owner removed the PDC, boot pocket it sits in fills with water...! one replacement PDC unit later and its up and running, pinched a spare from the scrapyard also, just in case my reseal of the vent doesn't cure it!
swapped the clock spring and then got cruise control added in as well, been sitting on these parts for a while! |

I'm at the point of needing to do this, and INPA is daunting, so paying the $150 for a turn key option sounds good. I'm also hoping to turn off the CIC start up warning, maybe start with that if it's an option? I didn't see it in the original list. I'm literally starting from zero in this skillset! |

Anything you can code in NCS, you can code in protool.
I find protool infinitely more intuitive than NCS/INPA! |

It looks that way from my outsider's view! Currently trying to get a laptop set up with the other tools, and maaaaay give it a try if everything gets working (another issue in itself), but really thinking Protool is closer to what I need. I just want to get those stupid TPMS coded out!!!

Okay, first baby Protool job today! Enabled the wipers to return to start, key fob to close windows, and corner lights to signal alarm/locking.
Will move on to removing TPMS and activating FTM. Still not 100% sure on that process... what could possibly go wrong!?!?!? |

Okay, partial success in my journey through coding! I was able to remove the TPMS warning light! I unplugged the module, took $2VB out of the VO and deactivated RDC_VERBAUT (Tpms Delete (1)), RDC_DISP_SWITCH (Tpms Delete) RDC_Alive (Tpms Delete (2)).
Problem is that I still only get "TPMS Malfunciton on vehicle status menu. So the FTM status isn't engaged, and it still shows a TPM problem. Currently in over my head... any suggestions??? |

When removing the VO, it should have asked if you wanted to default code any affected modules. You shouldn’t have had to manually code anything out.
Did you click yes when prompted to default code the other modules? Did you try clicking the reset button and driving around? The process is simple and not much to go wrong. Disconnect module, remove VO, save both locations in CAS/FRM and click default code affected modules. |

I tried resetting on the CIC, but it didn't do anything. And stays with the TPM being shown, not with FTM shown. Apparently the not much to go wrong went wrong... :-/ |

Add the TPMS VO back and do it again, then remove it and default code the affected modules it asks you too.
The CIC is an affected module I believe, so it’s possible it was default coded to the new VO, which changes coding in it when done. If done correctly, you should not see the tpms module in protools. |

Then remove $2VB and default code the modules it’s prompts you to. Theres not much to it. I haven’t updated the app in a while, but when editing the VO, there is 4 columns. Factory?(I think this is your current VOs the car has), base, add-ons, and another one. The $2VB box that you can check should be under base or add-ons. |

Soooo, fun times, hilarity ensues. I added the $2VB back, I did it a few times as I wasn't sure it was working, and now it's showing multiple times in the VO.
But when I go to Current "tab" it's not showing and I can't select/unselect it as it's not there: It's not on base or add-on tabs either: I found this area that looks like it could do something. Would I then click on the Factory Code option? I am REALLY apprehensive about messing this up further. I didn't pursue it any further than this point: Oh yeah, all three TPMS lines are inactive/disabled still. Last edited by StradaRedlands; 02-15-2024 at 10:38 PM.. |

No, if you click factory code, it’s just going to default code it your VOs. Since 2VB is in your VO, it won’t do anything.
When you’re viewing your VOs in the edit screen, click the search bar at the top and try searching for it? Idk why it let you add it so many times but I’d be careful doing that haha. I never had anything happen to a module but that seems a bit much. Did you create a backup before you changed the VOs? I have had this tpms to ftm glitch out where I did have to add it back and remove it again, so maybe that’s what’s happening here. Are you able to see the tpms module in protools? Like when you see FRM, cas or kombi module? You can also force close the app or restart your device if the app is acting weird. Last edited by Serf27; 02-15-2024 at 10:54 PM.. |

I didn't notice the search option... will try it! I did do a backup, but it won't let me load. I get an error trying to read it... heart sunk when that popped up the first time. IIRC, the TPMS module does not show, just the three items in the KOMBI module. Or I'm not looking in the right spot. As I mentioned, I jumped into the deep end without really fully mastering it... this kinda' sucks. Last edited by StradaRedlands; 02-16-2024 at 12:47 AM.. |
