RSportcars are quoting the C63 as 4.3 secs to hit 60

The New Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG: A C-Class as Never Before

In the German Touring Car Championships (DTM) the new AMG C-Class ensures exciting motor racing at the highest level, and now its roadgoing sister model is celebrating its debut: the new C 63 AMG. Its AMG 6.3-liter V8 engine develops a peak output of 457 bhp and a maximum torque of 443 lb-ft – unrivalled figures in this segment. Accordingly the C 63 AMG accelerates from zero to 60 mph in 4.3 seconds, while its top speed is electronically limited to 155 mph. A combination of expressive design, a decidedly sporty interior and a high level of everyday practicality makes the C 63 AMG a unique high-performance car.

LOL to whoever said 100k for a c-class. I'm not hating on the c-class, but I dont think theyll ever make one that costs 100k lol, even if it IS overpriced.

I'm still not impressed by the 6.2 liter pushing 400+ horses. 100 hp per liter should be the standard all around

+1

I do agree on that cause right now they are pushin around 72 horses per litre. I would have liked to have seen around 90 per litre and a smaller engine. Forced induction would be nice to see....

I like the ridges on the hood. Looks hella aggressive.

I'm not feelin the front bumper tho... too many lines---> looks too WRXish for a car of this luxurious caliber.

2008 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG revealed

07/04/07, 10:26am, EDT

Mercedes has taken the wraps off its 2008 C 63 AMG — the most potent version of its new C-Class sedan. The car delivers a whopping 457 horsepower, putting it comfortably ahead of BMW's all-new M3.

In typical AMG fashion, the C63 features large performance-oriented tires and wheels, an aggressive bodykit, a much sportier interior, and suspension and chassis improvements.

The sprint to 62 mph takes a scant 4.5 seconds according to Mercedes — and that's likely a conservative estimate: real world acceleration is typically even quicker than claimed times.

Maximum torque of 443 pound-feet comes at 5000 rpm. The torque curve is equally impressive: from 2000 to 6250 rpm the driver always has more than 360 pound-feet on tap — ideal for powerful acceleration in any engine speed range.

A new seven-speed AMG automatic transmission with paddle shifting provides a wide range of driving modes. The different modes are "S" (Sport), " C" (Comfort) and "M" (Manual). Gearshifts in "S" mode are around 30 percent faster than in "C", and no less than around 50 percent faster in "M" mode.

The C 63 AMG owes its outstanding handling dynamics to the AMG sports suspension and an all-new three-link front axle design. The stiff configuration of the springs and gas-pressure shock absorbers ensures optimal road contact and low body movements when negotiating serpentine bends at speed.

The new front axle has a 35-millimetre wider track – visible by the more widely flared wheel arches – and therefore ensures lower dynamic wheel loads when cornering.

The front brakes have size 360 x 36-millimeter discs with six-piston fixed callipers, while deceleration at the rear is handled by 330 x 26-millimeter discs with four-piston fixed callipers.

The Electronic Stability Program offers a variety of settings. In "ESP ON" mode, the onset of handling instability leads to braking intervention at one or more of the wheels, accompanied by a reduction in engine torque. Briefly pressing the ESP key activates "ESP SPORT". In this mode the braking intervention to counter oversteer or understeer, as well as the accompanying reduction in engine torque, allows a higher dynamic threshold. Prolonged pressure on the ESP key activates "ESP OFF," whereby there is no intervention.

That's true. I'm sure it'll manage 4.3 no problem

The C63 is also detuned from the factory (it's the same engine as the E63). With Renntech's or Klemman's ECU tune, it can easily top over 500hp and the car will be an absolute BEAST. We will just have to wait and see, it probably will not hit the street until summer of next year.

l0o0ol my point on all Merc engines, have to built twice the capacity of the bimmer's engines to get same power output...

anyway i was thinking, in the 55 model, the C55 couldnt get the E55 power output easily cuz it didnt have a kompressor, but does this mean that in this generation, with only ECU tune u can get 500+ hp from the C55?!!!!!
