I honestly hate cops

So this is my second ticket in a month, real good luck over here. They are both "failure to obey traffic/control device" so they are no pointers.

The first one I deserved. This one however was pretty ridiculous.

So I;m on the turnpike and I pass someone doing 80 then see the cop stopped way ahead of me, so I out on the brakes and slowed to 65. He puts on his lights and pulls me over.

Cop: Do you know why I pulled you over?
Me: I think I temporarily was over the speed limit to pass someone.
Cop: Yes, how fast do you think you were going temporarily.
Me: It couldn't have been more than 80.
Cop: Yup, I got you at 80.

Now I am almost 100% sure he didn't clock me at all because I saw him way ahead of me and slowed down in time. He obviously saw me slowing down and decided to pull me over.

So he comes back and gives me a no point ticket.

Me: Come on officer, I just passed someone, that's all and I never speed.
Cop: You never speed? You are a liar because you just sped. Why are you lying to me?
Me: Are you serious? You are pretty mean officer.
Cop: What! I'm just doing my job. I just went to McDonalds and they charged me 5 bucks. Why did they do that? Because they are doing their job! How dare you call me mean. You broke the law, blah blah blah
Me: Just give me my ticker and stop wasting my time, I will see you in court. I have the best lawyer in Philadephia.

At that point I was just pissed.

I mean seriously though, I dont need a f-cking lecture from some cop. I sped for a few seconds to pass someone and this is what happens. I honestly just hate cops.

We all have our reasons to hate cops but you just sound like a 16 year old kid that has a daddy for a lawyer.

Not his fault. His performance is based off ticketing.

Get yourself a radar detector if you don't already have one. Saved my butt many a time.

els_86, the cop was just doing his job. I've gotten several speeding tickets in the last year or so, but I never say anything about it. I own up to them, because I was speeding, and they carried out their duties as necessary.

Own up to it, go to court. No need to bash all cops.

I remember one time I was passing this jerk on Rt 15 in VA. He was driving too slow so I decided I would pass him in one of the passing zones. The ahole speeds up trying to keep me from passing him. A Loudoun County Sheriff witnesses this and speeds up to pull me over after I get in front of this ahole. He asked me what I was doing. I told him I tried to pass the jerk but he sped up to prevent me from passing. I asked him what did he expect me to do? I was respectful to him and thankfully agreed with what I said matching what he saw and let me go.

Not a good idea to brake suddenly, from a distance you can really see the car decelerate which the cops notice more. Better to lift off the throttle and coast.

The only time I have ever gotten a speeding ticket was when I slammed on the brakes.

This thread reminds me of

"Do you know who my dad is?? He is ________!"

You can fill blanks out with USDA, State AG, DA, Attorney, Governor, Congressman, Senator, etc.

Kidding aside, if the police did not clock you with velocity measuring instrument such as radar, laser, etc, You might have a good case. However, you kinda admit to speeding 80mph.

So may I ask, how fast was the car you passed was going? If the car was in the right lane doing under the speed limit and you passed him to safely continue on your way in the right lane at the speed limit, then you've got a beef with the cop. However, if the car you passed was doing 75 in a 65 MPH zone, then the ticket was legit.

So you were speeding and got caught and he was kind enough to give you a ticket with no points against your license and you're pissed enough to make a post about it?

You were driving 80+ in a 65mph zone. You were speeding. You got caught. Your fault, and no one else's. Sack up. Stop blaming the rest of the world for your mistakes.

You're an idiot for admitting guilt to the cop.
Never admit anything. Calling the cop a meany poop head doesn't help either.

So who's your lawyer then?

You should have said, "No, I am not sure how fast I was going when I passed."

But really? C'mon. He was just doing his job and you WERE speeding. You sound like a whiny brat with an entitlement problem.

and another lesson for you: never mouth off to a LEO. Pissed or not, that's when the encounter can and will start to go downhill quickly and that on no-points ticket can turn in to a stack of them or a ride to the jail. It can be a non-violent obstruction or a non-violent resist.

Yes guys, I know I sounded like a spoiled brat. I guess my anger just got he better of me in the moment, it happens to the best of us, no?

I just feel like I got pulled over for a bullshit reason. The guy I passed was probably doing about 65, so I sped up to 75-80 just to pass him and that was it. Who on here does not drive 75 on a 65 mph highway?

The reason I got testy with the cop was because he was talking down to me and acting like a tool. I said I never speed, and then he goes oh well you were speeding, so now your a liar, why are you lying. I don't need some wise ass remark like that. Oh well it's whatever I guess I will drive exactly 65mph on he turnpike for no one while EVERY other car does at least 75. I'm sure all you guys do that as well...

I have a tip for you, on the turnpike or the interstate, I try to pass where the road is straight and flat, I can see far ahead and slow back down to 5 over the speed limit before overpasses, entrance, entrance ramps, curves, DOT maintenance facilities etc.

Cops tend to hide usually around the curve, at the bottom of the hill, under an overpass columns, entrance ramps etc.

Also I try to find someone who's haulin ass and stay 3 car lengths behind him.

LOL he's got the best lawyer in Philly, nothing to worry about. That trooper will be looking for another $110,000 job next week.

Jk I like cops. Imho the jobs are dangerous, they have to deal all day long with people like the op. So if they make 88k in 2 yrs like on the LAPD and 91k on the nypd, so be it.

I'm all for speed and rlc cams, kinda put things into perspective. You break the law you pay. Op would prolly post how much he hates video with those and blame everyone but himself as well.
