Thanks Mark.

If I were going to print it, I'd probably do it at three or four fee and run it through that PS "Focus" enhancer, just to see what happens.

I wish I had one of my 5D's and some L glass for this one, but I was heading home from work, and all I had was my original 7D with a cheapie Tamron all-in-one 16-300 behind the seat. As they say, the best camera is the one you have on you, blah blah blah...Anyway, a quick four shot pano of a very nice sunset over the city.

Nice, looks pretty good to me.

I'll bet that the Tammy is decent when stopped down to f/8 and you wouldn't gain a whole lot with L-lenses. Okay, put it on the tripod, lock the mirror up, shoot at ISO 100 and you could print a really detailed 8-foot pano, but this is nice as is.

Oh, I'm going to be in SF all of Thanksgiving week, starting on the Saturday before. I'll be at the Hilton on Union Square and will have lots of free time, except from Wednesday p.m. on until I leave Saturday morning. Maybe we could beet up. I'll bring my whole rig if you want to shoot wildlife. I normally bring the 5D3, the 15mm, the 24-105mm, the 70-200/f4 and both TCs, but I've got a roller bag to throw in the 500mm and the 7D3 if birds are in the picture.

God I would love to, but I have family invading that same Saturday

Sadly I will be playing tour guide all week. However, if you want any suggestions for locations let me know. Pt Reyes is only about 40 minutes north of the city and has plenty of raptor, elk and deer, as well as stunning landscape opportunities.

My daughter lives on Mission at works at Uber, so I'm there for family.

I'll probably just stick to the city and bring the 5D3 kit.

Good, sharp focus. Which program are you using?

Yes it nailed the focus. Too bad it's a bit blown out under the wings. White birds are always an exposure challenge.

I use Case 1 with single point expanded. I've been having pretty good luck without changing anything, and I am kind of afraid of mucking it up. The big Tamron works far better on this body than any of my others. It's still not my first choice for BIF, but the kite obliged by hovering in place!

I found another kite last night at dusk and shot it at 3200 ISO with the same lens. I haven't had time to mess with those files yet. I wish Adobe would release their LR update, as I'm not a big fan of DPP.

I suspect it'll be several weeks before we get out LR and DxO updates. I know some people that get excellent results with DPP, but it's slow and I don't want to learn another software.

I've been working on trying AF on birds flying straight at me. That's about the hardest thing that you can ask a camera to do, but I felt like I was missing too many.

I sat in my car at the top of a ridge where seagulls fly from the lake, on their way to a dump or something. Anyway, one after another flies straight at me and gives me a chance to practice my aiming and see if the camera can keep up. I finally customized Case 3, with Tracking sensitivity at 0, Accel/decal tracking at +2 and AF point switching at +2. Shooting the bare lens, I started getting pretty good consistency. Here's my favorite shot from the training and settings session:

Looks like you got the focus dialed in Dave! I'm right with you on DPPmtoo. I'm sure it's capable, but I don't want to waste time and brain cells learning it. I took a bunch of shots today, but it will only process a few and keep the rest for when I can apply my familiar workflow.

Both really cool night scenes Rodny!
I really should get out and try more of that type of thing. I've got all the equipment, I just need to get off my butt and do it.

This wildlife area was on my way home from Sacramento yesterday. I had been giving some training up there all week, and decided to bring the gear along on the last day. It was already getting dark and huge shadows were beginning to form everywhere.
Again, using the 7D2 and Tamron.

I haven't been to San Antonio since my Air Force basic training in 1984, so other than the Alamo, I wouldn't know what to see there.
