Adrian Newey is IMO by far the most valuable asset in F1, much more so than any driver, team boss or brand. That said I'm very happy Renault is struggling since a Newey chassi with a top engine make F1 as exciting as watching the US in international basket ball.

It looks dry and hot currently which should favour the cars with the
Benz engines. I'm looking forward to see what Williams can do in these conditions, if they are faster or slower than McLaren. The Renault engine should hopefully suffer with the heat if there is no rain to cool things off.

Watching the race now. The racing is good, but the sound, or lack thereof, is horrible.

They need to at least work on the microphones to make the cars sound better for TV viewers.

The start and replays of the start basically were soundless.

I knew the V6's would sound like crap, but I am even more disappointed than I expected I'd be.

This is going to hurt ticket sales, it has to.

The racing is good though.

The sound sucks and definitely degrade the F1 status and experience. Personally though I take sh*tty sound and great racing over great sound and predictable boring races year after year. I'll never get used to the constant short shifting though, it's not very racy.

Bit of a ho-hum race. And this Nanny crap the FIA is pulling with every little incident is going to ruin races. And there's the sound (or lack thereof).

Ricciardo with a 10 place grid penalty after his pit-stop nightmare.

Didn't they already penalize him in the race with a 10 second stop? This is getting a bit ridiculous.

It's only 2 races into the year. I suspect RB will figure things out and run up front, that is as long as Renault gets their engines figured out.

It's very ironic, one of the main reasons the shitty sounding turbo V6 engines were chosen was because Renault threatened to leave if they didn't switch to the present engines, and now they are sucking eggs. I kind of hope they suck badly enough to switch back to something better sounding lol.

Too bad the rain held off. That would have made things very interesting. Not likely to be an issue next week. Though Mercedes is in the lead, Red Bull is likely to turn the tables given the improvements they seem to be making to the car. Ferrari needs to do the same, but that seems much less likely.

Alonso has race pace in the Ferrari. If they can improve qualifying, they will be up on the podium.

I wish Raikkonen would've had a better shot at a podium. Sucks that his tire got destroyed.

Watching the Indy car race now, those things sound better than F1!! And I hate to see say that, but its true. Racing was pretty good today but the merc's have a huge advantage. Surprised to see Red Bull back to their competitive ways. Surprised to see Ferrari still so far off where they need to be.

The FIA really needs to have a major rethink on these rules, Id guess it too late to do anything for this year, but they need to raise the fuel quantity limit as well as the fuel flow limit or just get rid of the flow limit alltogether. Let them rev higher than 15k. Its absurd, cars racing in the LeMans 24 hours are pushing harder than these guys. Its pathetic. You can hear them lift off before braking, short shifting around 10-12k rpm. This is the pinnacle of technology but this just isnt the type of racing F1 is known for. I understand they've hardly ever gone flat out 100% ever, but I also dont think they've conserved this much either. I'll still watch but Im allowed to bitch about it.

I don't doubt RBR can come back. It is very very early in the season. But if they do, this most definitely will be their biggest achievement as a team. Vettel finished 25 seconds behind Lewis. When Lewis wasn't even pushing the car the second half of the race. They don't have a hill to climb, but a mountain. Luckily for them, McLaren and Ferrari decided not to take advantage of RBR's slow start. Otherwise RBR would have other teams stealing points from them.

Yeah. Not only was Alonso running down Hulk at the end of the race (Hulk on older tires), but he was also closing the gap to Vettel.

I'm actually a Mercedes and Hamilton fan, but man, McLaren and Ferrari need to increase their competitiveness and pace. They are waaaay slower and competing with the mid-pack teams. RB's competitiveness is frightening as usual because you know they will eventually be title contenders.

They did, but he retired before he can serve the penalty.
But from 10 second to 10 place grid penalty was too harsh!!!

Ferrari has the pace. They just need to qualify better. Alonso had the 3rd fastest lap time, behind Hamilton and Rosberg. Kimi just had a poor weekend.

Rules is rules: "Under 2014's revised regulations, any driver who is unsafely released not only incurs a 10-second stop and go penalty if they continue in the race, but also receives an automatic 10-place grid drop for the subsequent event."
Its the same for everyone and is to stop potentially lethal accidents where pit crews and media bods can get hit by errant wheels in the pit lane.
