when they move quickly I don't even have to blink
easy contact from club to head lol ok in all seriousness I just look up all my past info on it I actually got LASEK and my video of me doing it is here: www.vimeo.com/4151551 not for the faint hearted if eye things freak you out...but it has some odd music the doc chose. differences b/w lasik and lasek http://www.the-lasik-directory.com/l...sek_chart.html lasik is quick but lasek takes longer to heal but has less dry eye issues, less to go wrong , less haze, and the flap wont pop open (happens to super active ppl who do lots of sports or fall or their face or box Ali)

Other than the suction stuff (which lasts around 1 minute per eye) it was very easy. I was able to start driving again the next day. I saw halos and a faint "glow" around light objects against dark backgrounds for a few weeks. Now my eyes are totally back to normal. My vision before the surgery was like 20/35 and 20/50. It was 20/10 the day after. I think now it's leveled off at around 20/20. I saw halos during the day for about a week and halos+starbursts at night for around 4 or 5 months. It can take a long time for your corneas to fully heal.

I got Lasik done back in 2006 - 2 days after my car was delivered.
Lasik is the best investment i did on myself to date. I had (low) Myopia and 5 - 10 mins after the surgery i could everything in 20/10 after initial blurriness. and dont forget to take the drops. i neglected it and now my eyes get dry for no apparent reason. not that bad though. |

also depending on your eye insurance you can get a discount. I have united health care vision and they offer 15% off at all lasik+ locations.

I got lasik done 7 days ago, so I can answer any questions since its still pretty fresh..
The procedure itself is fairly quick (although being nervous made it seem longer than it actually was). Like others said, the suction part is the worst part, but even that isn't bad. You just feel a little pressure which is more uncomfortable than pain. Your vision goes out (white) for maybe 30sec until they do your other eye. The laser part you just stare at a green light while red laser fixes your eye. You don't feel a thing (except burning smell lol) I had -6.00 contacts so my vision was pretty bad. Immediately afterwards you can see, but its like really blurry ( at least for me). I guess it was like seeing through very dirty/foggy glasses. I got mine done at like 8pm at night so I was able to go home and pass out quickly. The day you get the surgery is by far the most uncomfortable, with slight pain/irritation. I had to force myself to go to sleep because it was very uncomfortable for me. Next day woke up and could see almost everything. It was 100x better the next day (pain and vision). It was still a little uncomfortable and vision wasn't 100%. Everyday got better. The post-day checkup I tested with 20/25 vision. It has now been a week, and I have to say everything is perfect. The only dryness I have is right when i wake up in the morning. I feel like i can see practically everything and my vision has gotten significantly better since the first few days (I actually dont think it can get any better as I can see everything). The first week is not fun, but once you get through those days, it will be the best decision you made. I love it so much I can barely remember any of the negative aspects edit: I never experienced halos or any of the symptoms some people have. I dont feel like my eyes are dry at all either. They did tell me I had a lot of tissue on my eye so I was a perfect candidate (i think they say that to everyone lol)

not to sound all professional and all, but i work for an eye surgeon specialize in refractive surgery in Vancouver, B.C.. Most definitely there is less complication with Lasik or PRK surgery then wearing contact lens. It is because most patients don't take enough care with their contact lenses. With Lasik surgery tho, is very important to find out if you have a record of dry eyes. The creation of the flip means cutting through some of the nerve in the mid section of the cornea, hence creating dryness. Furthermore, if you are young, I will suggest PRK over Lasik surgery. There is always a chance of regression. Especially with higher minus to begin with. So 20 or even 30 years down the road you may require another surgery to bring your eye sight back to 20/20 or 20/25. with PRK we use less tissues because there is no creation of the flap while we only remove the very first layer of the cornea, which is roughly 50 microns. A lasik flap is ranges from 100 to 160 micron depending on the surgeon and method. So be sure there is enough corneal thickness to start with. Hope this will help. I will try to answer any other question.

LASEK does not it is like a lesser version of PRK...there is no flap. the part they move aside regenerates and is permenant so there is no danger of it ever opening again. Pro atheltes and ppl with thin corneas have to get PRK, but active ppl (skier, road cyclist etc... where you can crash and smack your eye or face) opt for LASEK because there is no flap, a 1-2 day more of healing (prk has a week to two and lasik has 1 day). The peace of mind of no flap was what sold me.... Also Right after surgery I was seeing 20/10 and 20/15. The coming days though were painful with light and computer screen or phones were not usuable until 2 days after. oh and i was -4 and -4.5 with no other complications (stigmatisms etc)
