2010 Audi S5. NO SUPERCHARGER?!?!

What was Audi thinking? The 2010 S5 Convertible has the new V6 TT engine but the 2010 Coupe still receives the V8.

Looks like the 335i will continue it's reign on coupe tuners for another year.

Apparently it was because of the great feedback from the V8 engine.

+1. Passing power with the V8 is great, plus you won't have to worry about warranty issues with mods and what not.

Smart move by Audi IMO... for those that want a car they can mod, they'll buy the supercharged version. Those who want that kinda power stock will buy the coupe. Best of both worlds.

^ The 6 has passed the 8. Small flat area at high RPM's but still..

Torque from the SC 6 just beats the 8 outright. It also gets 28% better fuel economy.

Chip it and it's game over.

The audi v8 is nothing special anyway. The b6/7 s4's and s5's are slow with that v8.

but, it also one of the sweetest car sounds. when i worked downtown, i nearly always ended up behind an s4. the guy loved to get on it, and i just loved hearing on the way in. high revving V8's are beauties to behold. but, the greenies are going to eventually take that all away from us.

It's got nothing to do with that, but it's probably Audi official line on the subject.

It's a SC V6.

+1 to the feedback of the V8. Some people just love the amazing V8 sound. It's a emotional thing

As much as I like power I like the V8 better...it was a B7 S4 OR 135I. Yesterday I drove the new S4...it sounded like a GTI IMO.....I dont even remember what it sounded like.

It's a status thing. The S5 is the "in" car right now because of how it looks, not because of how it drives. The V8 is a fitting engine for a car of its size, shape, and stature

Also, the 4.2 with an exhaust system sounds a heck of a lot better than the 3 liter with one

Seriously, the sound was forgettable?

I drove it (remember I owned an S5 so I should know) and found the exhaust note about average below 3500rpm but above this and the closer you got to the redline the more it sounded like a Porsche flat 6. Forgettable was not something I would have said and I commented to the sales person how impressed I found it.

It's amazing how two people can come to totally different conclusions.

Now the 335i does sound forgettable but that's understandable as turbos usually suck any decent note from the exhaust.

He said he drove the new s4... which sounds nothing like the V8 S5.

I think they are both on the same page.

I think so...I was saying that the 3.0T powerplant will make turn into what the 3.2 A5 should have been...the magic will be gone. I dont care if the V8 is heavier, slower or guzzle more gaz it just sounds orgasmic. I hope that if Audi puts the 3.0T engine in the S5 the price tag will come down like it did with the B8 S4(went from (B7)70K cdn to 52K). Past 2011 the RS5 will be the way to go or get a used S5.
