2015 Fiat 500 Abarth

i helped my brother pick one up this week. tried to convince him to go with the manual transmission but his fiance cant drive stick. nonetheless, i was very impressed with not only the handling but the actual ride. for something with a such a short wheelbase and tight suspension the ride is not as rough as i was expecting. plus, the exhaust is intoxicating, i dont know how they managed to get that sound out of a 1.4l 4 cyl. the only thing i didnt like was the radio and info screen controls but im sure its fine once you get used to it.

he went with the grey with red leather interior with basically every option available, sticker was over 30k.

But price tag is quite high for such a small little car!

Nice! Fiat let me borrow one for a weekend since I was attending a car show a few weeks ago. It certainly is a fun to car to drive, and the one I had was a manual. You're right about the exhaust: sounds great. And I agree with the controls: they are no easy to get to, especially not the radio. The A/C is also piss poor, as on low the car does not cool down and on high it makes too much noise. Perfect little city car though.

Neat little cars. I think it's a good middle ground if you don't like Smart cars.

Does it share the same motor and the standard, or is the Abarth different?

difference between the 500 abarth (or any 500) and a smart car is night and day. smart car feels like a chore to drive and it is extremely under-powered.

its the same motor as the regular 500 but its turbocharged.

here is a link to that exhaust i was talking about.

Very slick car, but getting a FIAT in anything but a stick shift is sacrilegious

What do you expect it to sound like? A big block V-8 with solid lifters?

I don't know I drive pretty routinely into the NYC and the NJ turnpike which is a freakin parking lot at times. Once you become ingrained driving an MT you don't really mind it, at least I don't.

The Abarth is a cool little car. One parks near me frequently in my parking garage which always gets me wondering what it is like to drive.

A guy in my unit drives the exact same car down to the color scheme. And I can't help but giggle every time I see him get in to car. He is a pretty big guy, like 6'2" 200 pounds. And I think it's a cool car for a chick, but not a dude by any means. I dunno, I couldn't drive one.

A friends dad bought one to commute with. It's hilarious he is like 6'6" 300lbs... It's like he is wearing it.
