As Max closes in on Prost's 51 win tally, Alain has given a minacious warning to all the others that he is basically unstoppable as RB has stopped upgrading the 19 to concentrate on the 20 and it's probable that it could go even quicker when pushed with the existing design
Interesting to see if Merc's replacement floor can make them to catch up to McLaren a little and there's no word from Ferrari yet as to what their Austin effort will likely be.

There's more pressure piling on Horner to replace Checo immediately with Lawson from Lawsons former boss, notwithstanding that he's just reserve driver for AT it's dawning on me that it may be too late in the day for Checo now to make a difference and maintaining his second place in the championship is not as important as getting the young hotshot in who has been compared to Senna.
Considering Ricciardo would be a waste of time also for Horner and he's only in the sister team through Horner's sympathy out of his past service, as mentioned before by Villeneuve.

Checo's got the spotlight right now. People either support him or want him axed. Dude better be hitting up his sponsors, because the media is sure all over the click-bait articles. From him potentially retiring, to people telling Horner how to run his team in their most sucessful year so far... Checo is getting a lot of air time.

Lawson has promise, but put him in a RB and he's going to get chewed up and spit out by Max. He needs to start at AT. I think signing Ric was a mistake, as much as I'm looking forward to his presence again in the sport. I lost faith in Ric after watching him struggle so much on multiple other teams. He didn't impress in his few outings in the AT either.

Sure, at first but the reason for putting him in immediately would be to get him up to speed and into the groove with his said 'Senna touch' learning quickly and I think it would be unlikely that he would lumber on like Checo is now tripping up constantly.

As long as Perez can bring more sponsor money to the negotiation table than Lawson, Perez can rest assured to drive for RBR in 2024. But it would help if he'd live up to the high expectations these final races of the season: a couple of podiums and securing #2 in the WDC.

So as the F1 circus moves to the area of North America where Sergio Perez' fan base is largest (Texas and Mexico) the belief here is that RBR should shoot themselves in the foot by canning him. Makes little sense...even for RedBull.
Think the bigger question is...will RBR bring their 80yr old bigot for display in front of the attending Hispanic fans?

The manner in which RBR is throwing RIC out in public along side VER speaks volumes - especially in the US. PER's support here should be very strong but they are not playing to it at all. RIC obviously has major appeal worldwide but still you wouldn't do that to this extreme without there being an issue there. Marko's comment about PER's focus - you don't say that if you plan to keep someone around. PER & VER obviously have some issues between them as well and you know RBR will do whatever is needed to keep VER happy - although I think in this case VER doesn't care much about it with PER not being able to generally come close to his pace. And RIC is doing a fine job buddying up to VER as well. It sounds funny but just think RBR is very displeased with PER's performance despite being in P2. He costs them money when he damages the car - money they could have allocated to future development instead. He has allowed others to see more of RB19 than RBR would prefer through unforced errors. More often than not he doesn't provide much help in the way of data gathering that would also help for the future. Although he is backing his way into P2 for the season he really hasn't done much to help the team this year. And even with P2 if you're not helping the team then RBR has shown to not have much tolerance in keeping them around. They obviously have a car with the potential to be amazing - but it is showing to need a pretty amazing talent to extract that full potential. I do not think RBR expects the 2nd car to match what VER can do - but I do think they expect that car to be an aid to the team and not just an also run. Overall this year PER has been more negative than positive.

Right or wrong to be pushing RIC over PER right now? I tend to feel like it is a bit uncalled for even being a RBR fan. I know why they are doing it but feel it is unnecessary. It is ok to show PER some tough love when needed - but I do think it is taking it too far right now. Nothing wrong with trotting RIC out there but PER is the current 2nd seat and deserves at minimum as much attention as RIC is being shown.
It's a job. He signs up to race. At the moment, at a salary of $10 mil for 2023, he gets about $1 mil for every race he finishes. That's an hourly rate of 1/2 a million bucks/hour.

I would be happy with that, sit it out and find another job in 2026.

It's not like he owes RB anything and RB doesn't owe him anything above and beyond (well they did after Abu Dhabi but i believe his renumeration reflects this)

Sure, but not to the extent of underperforming at seemingly every race. There comes a time when it can only go on for a certain amount of time and the finance gap could be made up with the new RBR/Lawson tie, the money presumably would roll in and there is only a limited amount for the budget lets not forget.
I was supporting Checo to at least keep up with Max but as the saying goes if you can't stand the heat then get out the kitchen.

article says Helmut wants Perez out, only Horner is keeping him in

no way you want someone who was beaten to a pulp by Lando to partner MV

A racing team should not be influenced by a driver from a certain country whatever his fanatical fan support, if drivers from other countries have better potential then they should not be prevented for driving if the current one is underperforming and continues to do so don't you think.?

Probably a raft of upgrades expected for the others and something about Ferrari too with reference for airflow to the rear of the car for more downforce and less tire deg.
No upgrades expected for RBR

Granted that while RBR's timing of canning their #2's has historically shown to be ruthless, Perez fans will attend the next two North American F1 races in the largest numbers...they've already bought their tickets and made their travel arrangements. So with RBR having the year pretty much in hand you're suggesting they embarrass themselves and the current number 2 driver in points and ruin it for their and his fans. No, I don't think now is the time.

RBR have no control of ticket sales and if some fans want to pre book (expensive) tickets then it's the chance they take. The race will still take place whatever happens and if I were the manager I'd take the tough decision of what is right for the team.

Ha. Lewis isn’t exactly exuding class and manners while munching on his apple during the interviews. He makes a lot of money, but he’s still low rent.
