opinions on 2013 Lincoln mkz
Lincoln motors is going to give me a 2013 Lincoln mkz sedan for a 2 days as part of some "date night promotion". it is a great looking vehicle imo. What are your thoughts on this car? Has anyone driven this car?

Every review I have read said the problem is the Fusion is so good and the MKZ does not cover up its roots enough to justify the price in comparison.

Drove the car at a Pirelli press event back to back with a 328. Not bad for a fwd car, but still not very performance oriented. Interior was nice though. Exterior is a love it or hate it proposition.

I'm already over the Fusion design too much of a good thing I guess. The issue I see with the MKZ is the grill is pulled from the Mid-40's Lincoln Zephyr design theme, which no one in the target age group for the '13 MKZ will be nostalgic for. I liked the rear of the last-gen MKZ a lot.

not sure how well the design will age, but at least right now it looks great... very futuristic and lots of cool tech in the higher spec models

I like the outside design, especially the back.
I read, i think it is this car, that the infotainment system is all touchscreen which I think I would hate not being able to just feel buttons and dials.

There has always been a contingent of Americans willing to buy Lincoln, Buick or Caddy sedans no matter how poorly they might compare to foreign made competitors. Most of those people were old and couldn't get past the idea that our WW2 enimies now made better cars. Since Detroit imploded, the big three have been trying desperately to appeal to younger, more upscale buyers. I'm not sure how well any of them are suceeding because they still don't want to alienate the seniors. Ford's pretty desperate about marketing Lincoln (Abe Lincoln commercials - really?), which was how Detroit always thought they could overcome poor design and quality. Unfortunately, the loyal fan base is shrinking daily so if they can't come up with a luxury sedan that compares well with German, Japanese or Korean models, they are SOL.

The more I see the MKZ, the more I like it and feel it stands out amongst the crowd. Most people vote with their wallet, so sales numbers will tell the story better than any reviewer's sample of one car.

I had an opportunity to drive this car extensively all weekend. This was a 2013 mkz 3.7 V6 awd. The car has every available option. Lane departure warning, bsw, park assist, nav, panoramic roof, 19 inch wheels, 700 watt thx stereo, led headlights etc. In a nut shell this car can be best described as a Lincoln town car with soul. I was impressed with the power and smoothness of the 306 hp v6 in this car. Acceleration was effortless and the car never struggled to get up to speed. The sound and feel of the v6 is similar to that of the Lexus v6 motor. Kudos to Lincoln for putting a refined engine in this car. The car has a sport button. I figure this changes the shift logic not sure about suspension feel as it felt the same. Brakes were very impressive with little nose dive and good pedal feel. Not your typical land yacht Lincoln. Seats were very comfy and well designed with good lumbar support and cushioning. Fit and finish could be better. The materials IMO do not feel as if it will suffer from wear and tear rather quickly such as the cheap feeling leather on the steering wheel, doors and seats. The navigation system is touch screen that can be hard to see when the sun shines on it. Infotainment features are nice with a plethora of multimedia options. Voice commands need work as it takes too long for due to system prompts. It should be instant ala BMW I drive and others. Steering is 5 series loose and the suspension is firm with a blend of classic Lincoln. Car glides over bumps yet corners real well. I can type a book about this car but I am typing from my I phone lol. Overall I was impressed with this car from Lincoln. Very attractive car that will only improve. I might buy this car as a family cruiser. I am also interested in the caddy ats. That is next on the agenda. Pics of this pretty car attached
