335is clutch kit on 335i

Was wondering if it would be okay to install a 335is clutch kit on a 335i with the original flywheel. Any thoughts?

JB4. Clutch was completely fine one morning, then slipping everywhere that same afternoon.

60k. Only tuned for 2 weeks. Bought car with 55k on the clock however it was a NYC lease which could explain the short clutch life.

Garage List
usually more power leads to it slipping but maybe because you have some mileage on it

yeah iam in the same situation actually, i have 45K on the car, and running a jb4 and DCI since 40K, so i don't know why its doing that its not like im running crazy power. but at the same time clutch is a wear part so that may explain. also i had 4 previous owners so that may play a role aswell.

Installed mine 1k miles ago. Holds well and feels OEM plus 10% more stiffness. Really nice. I like it. Was slipping at 45k used original flywheel mine had no burns and machine marks all present. I'm N54 just sharing my $.2

I went with Spec 2+ about 20k miles ago after my oem clutch started to slip after going FBO. I haven't had any issues so far.

Doom. I didn't even think about the effects of FBO and hp/tq impacting the life of the clutch.

Great review. Hopefully I get similar results with my n55 although I'm not making anywhere close to 400whp/430wtq like you are (only a jb4 :P)

Yes I am using an OEM 335is clutch kit that should fit my n55 according to ECS Tuning. I will post an update on this thread once install is done this weekend.

Thanks! Yea once I started adding more than a tune the clutch showed its weakness.

since you have a 2010 you are N54 like me. Now for the flywheel you need to do some research on your build date and see if you have a 6 or 8 bolt flywheel. I think that will determine if you can use a 335is flywheel. Though I don't think there is a benefit, unless you go 1M flywheel which is lightened.

In for the updates, I honestly dislike the heavy clutch/flywheel combo on these cars and would love for you to be my guinea pig Can't wait for some aftermarket options
