lol I haven't looked at this thread since I posted it, but I definitely agree on multiple points posted here.

The large majority of Clarkson's complaints are rendered useless when you think about it. There's a speedo on the left LCD screen at all times, and it's not like you're ever supposed to switch on a turn signal in the middle of a 90 degree turn (which is prob what you'd be doing with the 458's extreme steering ratio and a full turn of the wheel).

And in regards to the looks: you can chalk me up as one of the big haters of it when it was first released, but over the past few months I've recognized this as nothing short of a rolling piece of art on wheels. It's so perfectly proportioned and understated, and the details are impressive. I've completely warmed up to the big single intake graphic, the hood vents, and the toy looking diffuser with its three tailpipes.

That was some creative license, I'm betting, as was all the oohing and aahing over the power difference between the 458 and F430, like it was a huge leap; it's almost exactly the same bump as the F430 compared to the 360M.

570 vs 490 hp, 540 vs 465nm tq, .6 sec faster to 60, 155 lbs less seems like a big leap to me.

I will agree that there was some marketing though, but maybe they were trying to baby James' car

Most companies tend to make about the same leaps between generations. The power/performance difference is the same as last time, when the F430 came out to replace the 360. I was more surprised at the change between the F355 and 360, and I'm more curious what they'll do next time as people will be expecting another 80hp hump, meaning a 640hp entry level V8 engined Ferrari - quite a trick.

For sure it's a mighty impressive baby Ferrari (should we still call it a baby Ferrari?). I'm really looking forward to the first 458 vs MP4-12C it's gonna be mega!

How is it a baby?

They didn't decrease the size and make it "cheaper" like a Lamborghini Gallardo.

The only "baby" Ferrari would be the California.

The 355/360/430 have all been recognized as the entry level Ferrari, which is why some people might call them baby Ferraris.

Totally agree this car takes some warming up too....
