Can you help me find the right watch

I'm looking for a digital watch, hope you can help me find the right one. Basically I am looking for a watch that
- shows the time all the time without having to shake my hand or touch the screen or anything like that
- shows the current date and day of week
- has a calendar view of the current month
- has a calculator

Note, I am NOT looking for a smartwatch. I want one with just these features but its a regular watch and runs for weeks or months on a battery. I don't need it to connect to my cellphone via bluetooth or anything like that and require a charge every week.

Does the Casio Calculator watch have a calendar? Or do you know of any watch with these features?

Good luck.

You are onto what is likely the best calculator watch brand with Casio. You'll need to check out a store to see the watch in person or at least review an owner's manual to find out about that full month calendar display you want. Personally, I think that will be the deal killer for many an option you might otherwise consider.

Try this: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Casio-Blac...d-Watch/894294 .

All the best.

Can I please ask why you need/want a calculator on your watch? Just curious.

Its not a need, more of a fancy actually. But it's one of the things I'd use - for example at a gas station to calculate mileage real quick.

in fact I don't need a watch at all. Just a fancy thing. I've never had a watch but I was thinking it would be cool to have a watch with just these features but it doesn't have to be a smart watch (don't want to get another device that needs regular charging).

What are my options if I decide to go without a calculator but want at least the calendar month view? I did some searching and could not find anything...

What are you guys talking about? Is it trolling to ask if there is a watch that shows a calendar, now. Do you even know what trolling is? Trolling is posting something that upsets people, or starts an argument, or saying fanboy-ish things irrationally.

You might want to ask yourselves who the trolls are here.

Thanks, I think I'll end up getting a Casio. It doesn't look like there is any watch with a calendar view, short of smart watches. I'm not a watch guy at all, but I find that surprising.

The Pebble Steel is tempting with a once-a-week charge, but I really don't want to keep my phone's bluetooth on all the time.

Sorry can't help but think you were joking and looking for a response, trolling. No one has been in search of a casino calculator watch since the 80s.

Didn't mean to offend you or anything like that. But Casio would be your best bet.

Red:
Based on that, I'd say you probably shouldn't bother buying a watch. If you are over 25, you're not in the habit of wearing one and the odds are you won't once the novelty of wearing it wears off. That said, the $15 you'll spend to get one such as the one I suggested won't be big waste of money. So, if you want to indulge yourself, have at it.

Blue:
There are digital watches designed by Philippe Stark that are digital and that display most of the info you want. They are made by Fossil and they have a super sleek, modern look. I doubt there are any that have a calculator.

As for the "cool factor" of a calculator watch, I could be wrong, but I think the "coolness" mostly, and for most people, ebbed in the 1970s or 1980s. I suspect (hope) that you might be beyond the age whereby it might be nifty to be "that guy"who has one the math teacher doesn't know about. I can see how it might be cool for a brief time for pre-teens or even 13 year olds. Assuming you have gotten past that age, about the only way a digital watch will be "cool" is if you have some bonafide need for such a watch.

You don't have to take my word for it. Go into any watch store and observe for yourself the ratio of digital watches they have in comparison to analog ones. As businesses, they are going to stock their store primarily with things that sell well. Things that sell well are the things the buying public considers "cool."

Green:
If you do get the calculator watch and use the calculator function much, you'll be changing the battery at least as often as you would with a smart phone.

Brown:
Your options are about the same with or without a calculator. Such a thing may exist, but good luck finding it. IMO, the hunt for it will be quite a lot of effort to invest for someone who doesn't need a watch, isn't "into watches," and who has never worn one.

All the best.

Chk out Ventura.ch watches. Pricey, company I believe under new ownership. John McLaughlin ( political pundit ) wears one. No calendar but day/date. Very nice unique.

There is at least one American distributor that sells digital, battery powered very unique/artsy watches - some which have unusual functions.

Ayrton Senna when he raced for Toleman wore a calculator watch - that's why I think about getting a Casio Calculator watch - geeky high fashion

Well, think about when that was. It was in fashion and trendy/cool then. It is not now.

I had a Casio calculator watch in the late 80s. It was the coolest thing and everyone at my school wanted one. I remember it was quite pricey too... at least from a kid's perspective.

I'm just talking, in no time Senna was wearing Tag's and that was probably a collaboration that changed horology marketing in a big way.

I think you guys might be mistaken about the calculator watches' current popularity. From what I've seen, they've actually made some sort of a rebound, all jokes aside. I see hipsters wearing them all the time. I have two friends that aren't even hipsters that wear them.

Edit: just looked at Amazon's watch sales and it's currently listed at #11 in all of watch sales.

I guess the retro cool thing is going for this. Hipsters always go for that "look". For those of us who grew up when these things were new, it is definitely not cool. I'd get a G-shock before a calculator watch if I'm going for retro 80s.

I just can't imagine the use of something that is easily duplicated with a cell phone now. I have a calculator, date and every function I need in that.

I'm just wondering if you offered that because you view them as cooler than yourself, or the other way round? LOL

(just yanking your chain)

I just looked here -- http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=sr_st_po...opularity-rank -- and if I choose the sort order "New and Popular," that watch, nor any other calculator watch, did not appear after my having clicked through the first five pages of watches. If I choose "Avg. Customer Review," it does indeed show up in the seventh position.

That tells me that people who have it, like it, and that probably makes it a good choice among calculator watches. I wouldn't, however, infer that a lot of people are actually buying calculator watches.

FWIW, limiting the watches displayed to only digital ones, that watch (or one similar enough judging only by a quick glance at the pic) does appear on the first page.

Given my clearly quick and unscientific "study," I'm standing by my existing impression that calculator watches overall aren't all that high on the "coolness" meter of the average person. I think if one wants to buy one and make it cool for themselves, they should have at it. The bold, "devil may care" attitude doing that has a fair chance of working, although I won't suggest any time frame during which that might happen.

All the best.

Wow, thanks guys, thanks @tony20009. I didn't know calculator watches were that out of fashion. Like I said, I know next to nothing about watches and perhaps even less about trend/fashion. (grew up in a different country, so perspective is different)

But.. no watches that show the month view, really? I'm really surprised. Its one of those date/time things you want to quickly "glance" at the current month and see what date is what day (I hate counting that in my head).

By the way if you're curious I did do a ton of research on this last night and found only ONE watch that seems to have a calendar view: http://www.watchallure.com/wp-conten...EDB610D-8C.jpg

Guess what, these sell for $200+ on ebay and amazon. I guess its either retro-freaks or people like me who want to buy these .

Thanks for giving me the heads-up, I most certainly DO NOT want to look like a hipster!

That watch doesn't look to bad to me, at least as calculator watches go. I'm glad you at least found one that meets your requirements. I say see if there's a store near you, or a website that sells them and has a liberal return policy (just in case...), and give it a shot.

One thing's certain: Casio is "the name" in this type of watch and they make very good, reliable and well made/designed products. It seems to be exactly what you wanted, and what I, or anyone else, think shouldn't matter. Try it on/order it and see what you think. If you like it, by all means wear it and enjoy. You are a grown person; nobody's going to belittle you because of your watch, and nobody is going to think you a "mess" or "weirdo" because of a watch.

Spending $200 on a watch truly and exactly what you really want, whether it's in vogue or not, is a far better thing to do that spend anything on one you don't particularly want, or that is a compromise. I might have a different point of view were it a $2K or $20K watch, for example, but at just $200, you probably aren't taking too big a risk, particularly if you can return it, or better yet, try it on in a store near you.

All the best.
