Dress Shoes...
I'm looking for a new pair of dress shoes... Can anyone suggest ones that hold up well with lots of city walking? It should have rubber or leather/rubber combination soles so that I don't slip and break my neck on the metal grates in NYC. Oxfords are preferable, but I'm willing to try slip-ons if they provide enough support. For the past year, I've worn a pair of Gordon Rush oxfords that have held up great until now. They were extremely comfortable and stylish to boot. Anyone have recommendations?

Kenneth Cole's are good for just casual everyday wear, I also have a pair of Rockports that are really comfy.

Last forever but you pay initialy. Ferragamo for me. Italians can build cars and shoes.
This rubber sole loafer is around $450. Neimans/Nordstrom...look/feel and try them on, you will see why they cost what they do. I have had a pair of their Oxfords like these in Oxblood for 10 years. New soles and some polish.

+1 on Cole Haan
They're well made, comfortable, durable, affordable.

Dockers with the Gel sole FTW. They are dress enough for work, and practical enough for walking around.

Cole Haan, Rockport, and Kenneth Cole on the cheaper side. Ferragamo if you're willing to spend more. Pretty much what's been stated..I have all of the brands and love them.

Thanks for the suggestions. I've owned Cole Haan shoes with the Nike Air technology, but I feel that the air bubble look cheapens the shoe. The one pair of Kenneth Cole loafers I had rubbed against my ankle bone until it bled during a brutal 10 block walk. I will definitely have to try Ferragamos, but I feel like I may be wasting the shoe when I walk 40 blocks a day to and from work...

hmmm not sure about style, it's subjective...but these shoes are the most comfortable thing that i've worn. I wear them 8-10 hours a day and they feel like tennis shoes, and very light, easy to drive a manual with it too...they flex and are not stiff
I think military police wear this things too, and regular cops

Why can't you wear your athletic shoes to and from and carry your spiffies in a pack?
40 blocks.... I need a beer.....

+1 on Ferragamos, their shoes are of excellent quality and fully warrant the price. I always go straight to their 50th and 5th Ave store in Manhattan since Neiman/Saks usually don't have all the newest designs and sizes.
Also would recommend Florsheim, also great comfort and quality, there is a store on 34th and Broadway. |

damn.. just thinking about that made my face cringe lol.. I ride the subway to school which is four stops down. If I tried to walk, it would take me a good hour or so, thanks to all the shit I have to lug around for drafting!

It takes me about an hour, door to door. I walk about 6 blocks from my condo in NJ to the PATH station -> take that to 33rd st in NYC -> walk another 15 or so blocks to work just north of Grand Central.

Ferragamo for walking-dress shoes, but I recently got at pair of A.Testoni, which is probably the best one I had so far (compared to Prada, Gucci, Bruno Magli, Ferragamo, Church, ...)
