I was thinking about getting a set of skis last year and the ski rack for my E90 a few months ago and I never did, and in a way I'm glad. The ski resorts are literally dead around here. I've gone skiing ONCE this winter, in December! And even that day was pretty warm.

We've had a few cold spells here and there, but it never stays cold enough to make snow. We've had a rain storm this whole week. RAIN in JANUARY in NORTHEAST PENNSYLVANIA!

I mean sheesh...the poconos are famous for its ski resorts and it's been raining all winter! I've heard of November Rain, but in January!!???

I swear I can never remember weather like this. I remember a "january thaw" but never a january summer. It's got to be near the end of the world or something

It was even too warm to go skiing during the 2004-2005 season...I didn't go at all.

Time to revive this with the ski season less than a month away at best. Just Replaced my lines with some Armada El Reys pretty damn stoked to get them mounted and ride.

There are alot of choices depending on your skiing style

Largely depends on what kind of a skiier you are and where you like to ski.

I have Dynastar 4x4's, Dynastar Intuitives 69 C's, and my newest which are Salomon Scrambler 8's. I have always skiied on Dynastars, and been a believer in their product. (Interned there in college/have tried alot of their different skis.) However, I have been very pleased with the Salomon's! They are definately a "one quiver ski!" Rip up the groomed, and (while not purposed built powder skis) can float pretty well for a VT powder day.

Good luck!

I got a pair of Atomic Metron B7s, a fast carveable ski. Quite a bit of fun on those slightly hard packed days.

Skis: Nordica SpeedMachine Mach3
Boots: Lange Freeride 130 (with about 10 hours of custom work)
Poles: K2, can't remember the model, but they are carbon fiber and very light.

I'm really happy with that set up. I quit skiing for 5 or 6 years after racing in high school (late 90s) and the difference in equipment in unbelieveable. The Mach3s can hold like race skiis but are much easier to ski at 8/10ths.

I have a pair of Volkl 6-stars. Wicked fast ski, and not forgiving AT ALL. Great in bumps, crud and ice, but if there's more than 2 inches fresh pow....I'm bringing my Movement Goliath Sluff's. Don't have the Goliath yet, but working on it!

Skiing is dangerous. I know people who were killed, paralyzed or severely injured while skiing or snowboarding. There are too many obstacles to avoid while skiing and there are too many jerks skiers and snowboarders on the mountains who like to collide on to you.

yeah, and saliva causes cancer, when taken oraly, in small doses, over a long period of time. I know people that were severly paralyzed while taking a crap. Don't push too hard, you could rupture an aneurysm and die.

Let me just say that everyone who I know that participated in this sport suffered from a pretty severe to severe injury. It's more dangerous than sky diving and bungee jumping.

WRONG...WRONG...WRONG...

Please refrain from sharing this nonsense without data to support your positions...skiing is the number 1 sport world wide (even more than golf)...with a safety record to boot...

K2 Axis XP
Marker 1300 bindings

I skied a lot in Tahoe with fresh powder, so the wide XP were perfect... and late in the season when it was packed and paved, the Marker piston bindings were great for carving.

I lost too many poles to remember what they were.. except cheap.
