Stock Exhaust Question
Does anybody know what kind of metal the stock e92 mufflers are made of?
My buddy and I want to do the exhaust mod but he needs to know what type of metal the mufflers and piping are made of so he knows if he can weld the muffler shut. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Hey Chris I'm 99% sure it's stainless steel. I actually have my OEM exhaust in the shed- let me check for you...which part are you concerned about, the mufflers, the tips?

Thanks a lot! Ill see if i can find anything with that information. Yeah I'm looking to cut open the mufflers and cover up the perforated pipes with a straight pipe, and then close up the mufflers of course.

I did remove the packing in the outer sections. No rattles. Some drone, which is to be expected. You could probably avoid that if you put the packing back in. For some reason, I kind of like a bit of drone, which is why I opted to leave it out. Maybe subconsciously, I like it because it drowns out my girlfriends yapping. Idk. It is definitely not an inconvenience, or in the least bit bothersome. Edit: You may want to have them install some new tips while you're at it. That's something that I forgot to do myself. |
