don't feel like looking for the exact post, I think it's somewhere in the dyno thread, but I remember seeing dynos with 10whp increase, not saying it actually gives 10whp, but there's some gain to be had and for the price worth a try, unless California I guess. ...I think I'll try this as my next mod. ..

plus it just makes sens you make it breath a little more and to balance remove a little bit of restriction

Thanks, good to know. Wouldn't have expected that much of a gain. I guess we'll dump the secondaries when the thinwall 304 exhaust system goes in then.

Well, it ainīt bout gains.... probabĺy .... and if so, insignificant ones... but...

Just plugged in my PBX.... (330ix MY2011 EU Specs N53B30O0B 200kW)...and .... for the time being I am thrilled to the bones... everything they promised become real.... rode a map "3" (performance tuning "on, 100% throttle remapping, what else, isnīt it?) for few hundreds kilometers today... much, much better/faster/predictable throttle response right from the idle.... wow...

Speaking of the gains - if there is any, itīs well beyond my recognition... who says 280 (or so) from (stock) 272 hp?

BTW, there are some discrepancies in wire colour schemes/connector idents within the DIY manual downloaded from BurgerTuning website - female/male gets mixed once or twice and white / whitestripped yellow as well .... but I am referring to the EU specs 3er, not US ones...

I will find out what engine you got first, there is a good chance you have N51 since you in california.

in case you have N51, just get tune, it will yield you the most per cost. N51 already came with 3 stage intake, its just been tuned down to 230hp.

There are two cars with about 10whp gains from deleting the secondaries.

Yes, that is correct. I'm looking to get it tuned, there are a few shops here in S.D. so I just need to chose the right one.

A LOT of good suggestions and knowledge on achieving gains! Still haven't done any performance mods though, it's been all exterior, but now is the time to order my tune.

I haven't tried it myself, but many people also saw some improvement by removing the secondary cats, to keep it in the "best bang for the buck" mentality I would go to a muffler shop and ask them to cut, replace with mandrel bend exhaust pipe and call it a day probably for under 150$.

so 250$ and maybe if you're lucky will gain a 5-10whp, it's not so bad for the money..
Where did you get the air scoops? If I remove the secondary cats would that give me the chance of failing smog or have any negative effects?

this thread makes me feel sorry for you guys with the NA motors trying to get mods, along with others referring to bolt ons as "charcoal delete and drop in filters".

not to be one of those 335 trolls but i was in the same exact position as OP. i wanted a BMW really bad, i wanted a reliable one. I got me a 2010 e92 328i, loved it but i really wanted a 335i but i was afraid of reliability costs plus i was a big fan of NA hated FI. months went by and every time a 335i pulled up next to me i wanted to cry or even when they passed me i would look to see if it has 2 exhaust pipes. long story short i went crazy and traded it in for a 2010 335i e92 6 months after getting a 328 same year. lost 6g probably way more but i don't regret it at all.

my advice is if you have the money stop beating yourself up and get a car that will make u happy. i recommend the 335 despite its issues. the enjoyment to repair ratio is too high.

the reason i lurk these forums is to see if the NA motor finally got a good mod for your buck.

Don't feel sorry for us man, we love our 328's. I actually don't envy 335 drivers at all, street racing is not a thing for me. Yeah, having a faster car can be fun, but when it's all said and done we're both in beautiful, expensive BMW's.

For the secondary cats I have no idea, as we don't have smog tests here where I live.

For the scoops, I've got them off ebay, but that was before I saw the cyba scoops that are like 40$ shipped, look at for sale section here on the forum you can find them.

Btw. I do find the filter gets dirty much faster with the scoops especially in winter, but I guess that if the heavy dirt gets to the filter, probably more air does as well...now how much that actually helps.... it's debatable...

Same here, haha, honestly if money wouldn't be an issue, I would go for a 335i, but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy my smooth N/A engine and everything else that the car offers as driving enjoyment.

Btw. not sure if it has been mentioned, but some are running nitrous kits, personally not my thing... but good hp/$ ratio

I don't feel sorry for all you guys, just the ones looking for more power immediately after they get their 328s, I see threads about it all the time. It's like they came into it with the racer mindset. And believe me I love the NA power and reliability. That is something FI can't offer. Have fun man

Nitrous kits really? I would love to see that actually. It can't be good for longevity of the motor I'm sure.

This shit kind of reminds me of the kids on bodybuilding forums who start threads like, "hi I'm 18 and been lifting for over 6 months now, I want to take my gains to the next level what steroid cycle would you guys recommend....?". And insert face palm.
